I was successful with this last night and today except for one thing. I'm a total root virgin, btw.

After the last command in step 4, I was in a boot loop:

"fastboot flash zip PB31IMG.zip this should flash your downgrade zip file

-when the phone finished flashing the downgrade:

fastboot reboot

*when your phone reboots, you should be in froyo"

Upon my EXs advice I pulled the battery (and put it back in) and went into HBOOT (power and vol down). He told me at first to go into recovery, but that gave me a picture of the phone with the RED triangle with the ! inside. He had me pull the battery again, and go into HBOOT and do FACTORY RESET.
It started booting and my phone called *228 (I think) and I pressed 1 and it downloaded stuff and then took me through a first time setup, which I mostly skipped when possible.

Then I went to step 5 and had no further issues.

Oh, also, it took me a few to figure out to remove the word INFO from the beginning of my unlock key.

Otherwise, most excellent instructions! I hope this helps someone in the future.

hat in a circle

please help

I'm at unlocked with S-ON

I can boot into recovery but any option I choose goes to the hat in the circular arrow. It just sits there & does nothing. It's not frozen because I can hit the power button to back out to the menu again. What have I done wrong?

Thanks for these wonderful instructions. I've done all these on my Dinc in order to fix the low space problem. But now I am in stock froyo. Could I get back to stock gingerbread rom, like this one (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...hp?t=1737398)? Will the low space problem come again? Thank you.
Yes it will come back after flashing a new rom, unless the rom has ext4 built in . The rom you posted does not have the mod, however all you need to do is flash the mod again after flashing the rom and it all fixed again. If you want mostly stock gb with all the usefull addons and ext4 built in, check out my rom Touch of Blue. The link is in my sig.

Thank you. Now I have a problem when flashing the stock rom. After I wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, then I choose install zip from sd card. Then it says "E: Can't mount /sdcard/". And the screen got stuck here. It is useless to press the power button, volume +/- etc. What should I do?

Do you have fastboot setup on your pc? If so do the following.

Boot into the bootloader and make sure it says FASTBOOT in the middle highlighted in red.

Open command prompt to where fastboot.exe is located and type:

“ fastboot oem enableqxdm 0 ″

without the quotation marks.

That should fix the sd card not being mountable.

Thanks for the info, although you might want to update the post - if you allready have hboots 1.02.0000,or 1.07.0000 then skip ahead to the next step, you don't need this.(Stated on the other site) Especially since I kept getting errors with the htc program trying to communicate with the phone.

Question- does it matter once they give you a token? It seems like every time you run for a token ring it is a different set of character?
Also what are some nice roms for the incredible?

thanks

i tried to update the OP awhile ago,but the original is too long to fit in the space here,so it would not let me paste the updated version. ill come here for support when i can,but i dont make it here as often, thats why the other thread is linked- the OP there will always have the more up to date info, and be better supported. nothing against the forum here,my pc time is just limited.

the token is a different string of characters every time. you can use any one of them,as they all are generated based on your phones info.

my inc hasnt been my DD for a loooooong time,so i am pretty out of touch with roms. i dont care for sense,so personally id look at cm9/cm10 based roms, and if they were missing a feature i needed,id prolly be back at cm7. hopefully some others may have some rom advice for you :)

A custom recovery will prevent the ota from actually applying. The if an ota were applied, root acces would be lost, but s off will stay. Re-rooting with s off is easy.

Best way to stop the notifications is to flash an updated stock Rom,or a custom Rom. :)

I am attempting to use HTC dev to unlock my phone but I keep getting an error that the code it gives me is not correct.

I have used several computers and keep getting the same error. I have seen that a few people have had this problem and solved it, but no one ever says how they solved it.

Is there anyone who can help?

Thank you

We're sorry, but it appears your attempt to unlock the bootloader on this device has failed. This could be caused by several factors including simple errors in the entry of the unlock token, problems with your device, or a lack of manufacturer support for the unlocking process. Please see the specific error code listed below, and try again if necessary.
Error Code: Invalid Bootloader Token Length.
Error Reason: The submitted Token appears to be the wrong length and won't work.

I am getting a different token each time I try. - none work
