My daughter recently got a new device, and I inherited her old HTC Droid Incredible. I like to take old devices and update them when possible, recycle baby!!!
Anyways I love this write-up, I made to # 3 flash superuser root files. I followed all the steps:
1)place superuser 3.07 onto the root of your sd card. DONE
2)enter recovery via the hboot menu(power off, power on while holding vol down. once in hboot, wait for green writing to flash, then select recovery with power button and vol rocker) DONE
3)use the recovery menu on your phone to:
-make a backup of your stock, unrooted rom. completely optional, but a very good idea,IMO.
-wipe cache DONE
-wipe dalvik cache NOT AN OPTION
-install zip from sd card(chose your superuser file) FAIL
-reboot
I noticed everyone saying to use the optic track and not the power button. I can use the optic trac to move up and down, but I cannot use it to make selections. Only the power button works for selections. When I select Recovery I immediately get the red triangle w/ exclamation point. I hold volume up and power and that gets me the Android System recovery menu. I have an error waiting for me that says:
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/command
If I choose Apply update from sdcard, and hit power, I get --Invalid Operation--.
I am at a loss for what my next step should be. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
