I remember reading somewhere that if you recover using eRecovery rather than just flashing, it will lock the bootloader again and it will show locked rather than relocked, but I am not 100% sure though

It's now possible to unlock the bootloader of the Mate 20 Pro, even the international version.

Prerequisites:
1. FunkyHuawei credit or pass.
2. Windows PC
3. Bootloader code from unlockhuawei.com

Steps:
1. Use the 'new HiSuite method' to install from the LYA-Global section, version 9.0.0.171
(These instructions: https://pastebin.com/raw/Db5ZSyqu )
2. Now you can enable "OEM Unlock" from the developer options. (It wasn't possible without step 1)
3. Reboot to fastboot mode, use fastboot command:
fastboot oem unlock CODE
(replace CODE with your code)

Now the bootloader is unlocked! Time for development!
Pleaaase,
If you have unlocked bootloader, provide us with a backup for proinfo partition using SP flash tool along with your boooader unlock code!
Now this is the only way to unlock the bootloader for this phone!

you will save alot of people from changing their phone just to get root!

pleaaase help

?

You are asking them to deliberately destroy their (FH) business model Just check with the rivals for a cheaper solution...
What do you mean by that ?
I saw a lot of people doing that by restoring someone's backup on YouTube tutorials but sadly it's for different models.

Perhaps you're referring to the oeminfo partition. Don't think these phones have a proinfo partition.

If you restore someone else's oeminfo partition, your phone will not work. Updates will not install, firmware will not install, the regional branding will be non-existent. It's because of new oeminfo encryption making the oeminfo partition valid only for the device it's bundled with. You'll end up destroying your phone, and there may be no way to recover.

guys I received an OTA .171 update! and I'm happy to confirm that the unlock bootloader in not greyed out. :D so you might may don't need to buy it from FH after all if you are willing to wait, as your update might be around the corner

my phone is LYA-L29 and I bought it from Saudi Arabia

FH tweets about a new update. Anyone knows if we need to pay again???
you can always wait for your carrier to push out the OTA update? I don't think updating using FH method will block you from receiving official OTA update from your carrier (obviously you have to wait till your carrier pushes out the higher version numbers than .171, which could take a while).

So now that root and unlocking the BL are working we just need Lineage OS and a working Huawei camera port to make this great hardware finally future proof.

In the P20 pro forum they are already making progress!

I do honestly think that $55 or any sum of money to unlock something that belongs to me anyway is a little extreme. Technically, Funky Huawei are in possession of something that belongs to me because it's unique to my device - so having to pay for it is a bit ridiculous. That's just my opinion.

your bank charges you a service fee even though they are keeping YOUR money for you...

basically you pay for the service/information, it is something that guys like us don't have access to.

as for whether it is 55 USD or 30 Euro, it is really up to the market, I am sure even at this price level, there is still enough number of people who are willing to pay to make their business sustainable, if one day everyone is only willing to pay 2 bucks for it, then I am sure they'd be charging 2 bucks in no time.

I have just got a mate 20 pro on EE contract and so far just turned it on, as it is a LAY -L09 to which I understand I can use the global firmware to unlock the bootloader, has anyone on a EE contract done this and if so are there any issues that have come to light as I saw someone saying in another thread they are now have calls taking a while to connect. Thanks I advance for any replies.

I have a question, my device is from the TELCEL operator of Mexico, so I made the FH process pay a credit and install the .171 firmware, then I understand that the region is simulated to be able to install it, since if I try to update and restore the firmware through recovery I get a .169 update that is in which my operator goes, yes, I get a .169 even though I have installed the .171, then I would like to know if the last update .182 came to me through OTA or would have to pay back a credit to FH.

I have tried updating the firmware through the HiSuite version provided by FH but it tells me that the .171 is the latest version available.
