I think this is the last time I would buy a Huwaei.
1000 € in a phone that is full of applications to track me
Can not have the possibility to root or you have to pay 150 € and more manipulations that can brick the phone.
The next will be a samsung like 10 years ago ... Too bad

Samsung is shi*t.. Thermal throttling red patches on screen overheating... Huawei Best.. Just Wait next updates for root
Right now I'm hating Huawei. RAM management is complete crap, constantly stopping my music/Podcasts, not downloading updates for apps (gets stuck 'waiting' out 'pending download'). It's ridiculous since there is more then enough RAM.

This is the fastest I've regretted buying a phone, and since I bought it at a duty free store at the airport I'm not even able to return it.

I can't see that option, still tells me I need the unlimited pass?
Hmmmm, they must have changed it back again.

how does fh get the codes? thoughts?
Not sure,
It's obviously derived from the IMEI somehow, if you had enough IMEI codes and the corresponding BL code, you could reverse engineer whatever the algorithm is.
I daresay that this is what FH have done.

Does Samsung allow bootloader unlocking? I haven't owned a Samsung phone since the Galaxy 3 but even back then Samsung didn't allow bootloader unlocking (which was what knox was written to prevent) and the only way to unlock the bootloader was with complicated workarounds that weren't possible on certain models--or on any Galaxy 3 at all that had been updated to a specific software build number while the bootloader was still locked. After that OTA there was no longer any workaround and the bootloader was impossible to unlock and it was also impossible to downgrade the firmware back to the version where the bootloader was unlockable.

Hi everybody,
I see a recent video for unlock bootloader if we dont have the code...
the trick is to replace the info with another by knowing the code of the bootloader in advance and making the phone believe that it is the same version
See it
So if we have a bootloader code, we can change it with a another, no ?
No. That video is for a phone that is running earlier versions of Android and EMUI. It isn't relevant to the M20P.

Look up Huawei Firmware Finder in the Play Store. The latest version of EMUI the app works on is 8.0 because Huawei updates EMUI builds to make it more difficult to modify their phones.

mate 20 pro

It's now possible to unlock the bootloader of the Mate 20 Pro, even the international version.

Prerequisites:
1. FunkyHuawei credit or pass.
2. Windows PC
3. Bootloader code from unlockhuawei.com

Steps:
1. Use the 'new HiSuite method' to install from the LYA-Global section, version 9.0.0.171
(These instructions:
2. Now you can enable "OEM Unlock" from the developer options. (It wasn't possible without step 1)
3. Reboot to fastboot mode, use fastboot command:
fastboot oem unlock CODE
(replace CODE with your code)

Now the bootloader is unlocked! Time for development!
The update can be done with one credit. Or you can buy an unlimited pass which includes the bootloader code.
If you're planning to play around with an unlocked bootloader, an unlimited pass is probably the best choice, so you can recover whenever you brick it.

That is why I refused to buy chinese electronics products. Korean production is much better.

I had Sharp, LG, HTC, Xiaomi, Motorola, Samsung smartphones. Among them only in Samsung you can easily install TWRP and root. Just choose OEM-unlock aftre 7 days of using and install custom bootloader and ROM

easy money as tgey know stupid people will pay.

i want also root but not at that price.

next week it will be probably 150$. I think this threat has to be close as it's more an advertising for FH.
They're milking the situation. $99 for a bootloader code is disgusting! I had a chat with the owner of FH and he said that they need to pay running costs etc...

Dont really have an issue with them getting paid. Why should they give something away for free? Blame Huawei for it.

i don't ask something for free but now fh exaggerates, a few weeks ago it was less than 50$, then 69$ now it's 99$.

they got monopoly so now fh charges much as it can.

it is like my old bank, i change because they charged me 7,5€for a stupid transfer not executed , i can accept 1€ but not that much for something done by a computer.

and why i have to blame huawei? Everybody knows since last year they don't provide bootloader codes, so i buy the mate 20 pro with that knowing.

i will be happy to get root but i will not be sad to don't get it especially when i see what can some people do for easy money.

I think the Samsung don't lock the bootloader, but the Knox eFuse trips as soon as you flash a custom recovery and cannot be undone.

Well, i don't know exactly how they generate the unlock codes. Waiting time is ridiculously long so maybe it's done manually, at least some of the work.

I agree the price is high though, but I still think Huawei is to blame. Their reputation is on stake, first not allowing bootloader unlock and then have someone else benefit from still selling codes. THAT is ridiculous.

I'm now 10 working days into waiting for my code from FH. I actually think they are just not going to bother, so I ask for a refund, and then hope I buy again at the higher price.
