sorry for saying this but i don't know is it safe to run it that's why i asked you have you tried it.
i'm kinda cruel :p
Anybody have any opinions?

Will 1-Click Transformer Root tool brick my device if I have Jelly Bean on it?

As long as it doesn't brick it, I'd try it.

I restored root after update using voodoo....and yes I had both superuser and superSU

Yeah, that seems to be the trick for maintaining root access before doing OTA to Jelly Bean. Without Super SU, I think you lose root.

Any devs have an idea on how to restore root access from Jelly Bean?

If possible, I could force downgrade to ICS 9.4.3.17 and re-root. But wolf's method 2 doesn't work on Jelly Bean, correct?

^^^This.

I'm sorry that some people updated and lost their root. But I made sure I read a few threads and posts on XDA before I upgraded to jellybean.

I don't exactly know why supersu saves root but it does. I installed Supersu and approved it and used ota rootkeeper. I also went and opened superuser as well. When I did the "backup su" thing it said something quick about supersu doing something to the su when it never said that for superuser. Also when you go into supersu it updates the su file.

Either having these two does something to protect or enhance the su so it doesn't get lost during the update or something that supersu does that superuser doesn't works. I was scared but I updated and protected root before I updated. After the jellybean update I restored root, checked rootcheckerbasic, and opened titanium back up and my root is there and fully functional.

Thank you for pointing this out. I saw supersu on the market the other day but did not think I needed it because I already have superuser. How wrong I was. I hope they come out with a way soon to root jellybean.

Oh and jellybean is awesome. I love organizing the homescreen because it pushes apps or widgets out of the way now. The new animations are nice too and the google play store widgets that are advertised with the nexus 7 are there too. Which makes me wonder. People are praising the Nexus 7 and calling it the best android tablet right now because it's nexus, jellybean, and google. But technically the TF300T has all the same specs and has many things the nexus 7 doesn't have like micro sd card slot, hdmi micro output, and front facing camera.

Or is there something nexus-y that we are missing and still don't have?

TF300: Unlocked and Rooted

With all this hype about the Jelly Bean 4.1 update rolling out, I want to join. The problem is that my bootloader is unlocked and I am looking for a to manually update or flash the new firmware.

Is there anyway to perhaps place a file on the root of the device and then flash it with a recovery?

many thanks.

My update got stuck....I got the red triangle and had to reboot. Now the update is nowhere to be found. Is there a way to start the process over?

i'm not sure, can you go to settings and check for the update again?
i heard someone said that the OTA update only happens once, don't know if that's true

That's what it looks like. I cleared cache on one app as suggested in another thread and checked again but no good. Pretty annoying.

I edited the first post with instructions how to update and keep root.

the app that's responsible for OTA update is DMClient, can you go to settings, find that app and clear that app's cache & data?

you said you cleared cache on "one app as suggested in another thread", which app?

EDIT: oh i just read that thread, the app you cleared cache was DMClient and it didn't solve the problem, now i have no ideas, sorry friend, you probably have to wait until asus posts the manual update on their website, usually doesn't take long

SuperSU had been reported to be working better than superuser for ICS .... some root requiring apps like Lucky patcher specifically ask for super su.... now on updating jb, root is saved only if you are using super su

I had the update fail, and I too, get no update available, when i try to check. Is it possible to flash back tos tock ics, reroot, then try again? I have no idea why my update failed. I was using superSU, voodoo, saved root, temp unrooted, and did the update. It came back failed. I havent frozen anything, modified the build prop, or anything. If it possible to flash back to stock ics, can someone gimme a link on the steps please?

i'm not sure what you mean by "is that ok"? but if you're asking how to update without losing root, you can read the update in the first post of this thread:
- Your device is rooted and have SuperUser installed (of course)
- Download and install and run SuperSU.
- Download and install Voodoo OTA root keeper and use it to back up root.
- Update
- Use OTA root keeper to restore root.
- Done

He's asking if he needs both applications installed. The answer is no, coquipr. If you had Superuser installed first, just open SuperSU for the first time and Superuser will ask you to grant it root access. Accept, and then go into SuperSU's settings and make sure "Enable Superuser" is turned on. This will make it so that SuperSU is now the primary system SU. To test it, just open a program that needs root (like OTA Rootkeeper) and you should see the new access prompt from SuperSU. After that, you can remove Superuser from your tablet.
