HTC's UK store has July 31st as the day they'll have them in stock. Are those the HTC cables mobilefun will have or just some that will work?
It's the official HTC cable. I'll post when/if they dispatch it on the 30th.

HTC accessory store is just expansys UK in disguise. I wouldn't rely on their information.

I have two MHL adapters, a Samsung official one and a prototype from the MHL consortium, after work today I will be picking up my Sensation and testing MHL. Will report if either/both work. They should, since this is a connection standard, if they don't then I will take a very dim view of whatever HTC has done to break compatibility.

Has anyone here actually used HDMI with their sensation? If so what resolution does it put out and how exactly does it work?
Hi Broken89,
as I experienced here with HTC Showroom and Roadshows, i found that Flyer using the same MHL Adaptor (12-pins microUSB) and HDMD standard cable to project the screens from device out to TV/Projectors...
The resolutions based on Flyer up to 720p and 480
and I personally think the resolution on HTC Sensation output port (via seperated MHL, 5-pins MicroUSB) should be up to Full HD, 720P or 480
Hope that clear your queries :)

So, did you ever order this?
I've been using mine for about a week now. Pretty cool bt there's no settings for it tho , it just outputs w/e the video is. Bt rest assured that videos that were meant for a small screen look like ass on a 55" tv, bt a lil better on a 28. Most of the time I just end up watching da movie from tha fone itself.

That just sounds like you only have VGA resolution or something, if it was 1080p or 720p it wouldn't matter how big the screen of the phone is.

What cable do you use?

yes, you're missing something

My friend let me borrow his MHL HDMI adapter that came with his Samsung Infuse but when I hook everything up I get no signal what so ever I tried youtube and the media gallery. Am I missing something here?

you have to plug your charger into it. I've confirmed that the adapter from the infuse package works with a sensation and a gs2. just plug it in then plug in a charger that works on your phone and bam. game on.

When you say "bam game on" does this mean that you see on the big screen exactly everything what you see on the phone?

For example the start screen on the phone is now on the big screen?

Or do you actually have to go to a certain application like YouTube or Video player to see somEthing on the big screen?

I ask because I have tried 2 different tv's and none work with the cable that I bought from the T-Mobil Store.

don't know if anyone still reads this thread, but I thought I'd share my (short) experience with it:
got the official HTC MHL adapter w/ HDMI cable yesterday and it works like a charm!
plug in the HDMI, power on with USB cable and plug in your phone et voilá - hello big screen. whatever's on your screen's phone shows up on your HDTV and in HD. put on a game or a flick that's landscape / widescreen - your TV will follow suit and pretty quickly too, though I don't know if that's brand-related. all in all very nice.

Try this method?

You might have to change (if you can) some setting with the screen refresh rate e.g. 50mhz, 60 mhz etc...

If you know the refresh rate of your TV then you can match that to the same as your phone and then they should both play in sync?

I might be wrong but I remember something like this happening before and the method above solved the problem!

Tell me if it works?

Thanks

Thank You!!! You helped me resolve my viewing problem. I have a Sony Bravia TV. In the settings on the TV there is an option to turn off HDMI Control. Once I turned this feature off, it worked like a charm.

HDMI Working Great on HTC Sensation with micro USB MHL to HDMI converter

Hi all!

Just want to share my experience concerning HDMI with HTC Sensation. It works great :p

First of all I bought the following generic converter (made in china) :

>>> Micro USB MHL to HDMI Converter <<<

This adapter is not the official one from HTC (half the price but you might probably found less expensive on ebay).

My first tries were unsuccessful and I thought maybe my device (HTC Sensation) was not compatible or the adapter was damaged. So here is what you need to know:

  1. The generic converter has a micro usb female connector on which you absolutely need to plug the adapter shipped with your sensation (this is also the case for orginal HTC converter). This connector is the supply input for the converter and needs high current supply. It will probably not work if you use your computer (or the USB connector of your TV if you have one). I tried both with my TV and my computer and I have no HDMI signal on my TV so be careful.

  2. :) Sound is working fine through HDMI and volume can be controlled with senstation.

  3. Fullscreen on your TV is only available when your sensation is in landscape mode.

  4. :) Whatever you're in landscape or portrait mode, my TV always receive a full HD signal (1920x1080) at 24 Hz.

  5. :( It seems that you always need to have sensation switched on to have HDMI signal (when I standby the sensation, no more signal).

  6. Sensation luminosity has no effect on TV.

  7. I tried watching movies (I'm using MX Video Player available on the market) and it's a bit laggy wereas it isn't on sensation screen. This is a bit annoying but acceptable.

  8. You do not need third application on sensation to make it work, and there is no configuration available. Only HDMI icon is dispayed on the top left corner of the sensation.

  9. :) I'm using a custom rom (Pyramid3D XE) and no problem.
Hope you'll appreciate my experience and advices... If you have any questions, I'm here.

See you!

Reply to MHL HDMI adapter

You don't miss something here. But mabe you have got a fake mhl to hdmi adapter. As i know. Now in the market,There is many mhl to hdmi adapter is very cheap. But they are fake and not original. So you had better get a mhl to hdmi adapter in these professional website. Such as Hdgenius etc. Good luck to you !
