It won't install cuz you are rooted and don't have the stock recovery and the 4.3 update the bootloader has knox in it so it will detect that the phone is rooted and won't flash the update and for the update pull down the status bar and long press on the notification and and uncheck show notification and it will go away and won't pop back up

I was rooted (MF9) running stock, using this video. Last night I got the message that an update had downloaded and, without thinking, ran it... and it did run!! Doh! I now have 4.3 and no root. My titanium backup tells me I'm not rooted, and any time a root program tries to run, I get a security warning box that an app has tried to run a system command. Any help would be appreciated. I want my root back!

Any suggestions? I'd love to roll back to MF9. Since the "upgrade" my phone is way slow and the screen flicker is driving me nuts. It's like auto brightness is going crazy and I don't use auto brightness. Both batteries are good, so that's not the cause of the flicker. Anyone??

Yep, I just updated to 4.3 day before yesterday (finally got the OTA notification) and following the steps as outlined in the first post/Youtube video, I achieved root. :)

Thank you, OP!
Odin said it was successful, but root checker locked up saying device is running slow. Titanium Backup couldn't run. It just locked at a black screen. I used another backup I had made of the superuser file and once it reinstalled and ran, everything fell into place. Root checker showed root, and TB started right up! You guys rock!

Not to be nooby....but does this trip a flash counter if I am on 4.2?....I know that it will trip the Knox warranty void on 4.3...I have yet to update and would rather root before I trip either

Thanks in advance

Question about CFs Root

This method does not appear to be working for 4.3 Jelly Bean?? I performed the steps and it appears to root however, I do not get the Super su icon and cannot verify with the root checker due the system being slow. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the videos @qbking77 . I've been following them since my Galaxy Nexus. Rooted my S4 just fine. Unfortunately, an OTA came through on 11/30/13. It killed my wifi. I am now unable to enable wifi and nothing I've done to fix it works. Your video about rolling back to stock seems to no longer be valid for those of us who unwittingly updated to 4.3 with the new Knox bootloader (I tried using Odin to rollback. No go. Interestingly though Odin did allow me to put TWRP on - at the same time tripping the knox counter.http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/crying.gif).

Do I need to unroot to get to 4.3 then Root using the info in the 1st post? I am rooted on the MF9 currently with Andriod version 4.2.2

Thanks for the help in advance.
You have a couple of options, you can go back to Stock Mf9 then take the OTA ,so for that you have to be unrooted( complete stock) Or you can just go to 4.3 and keep the Mf9 bootloader. FYI MJA 4.3 brought Knox which won't allow you to revert to any previous builds once you are on it.
