I have mja 4.3 and this morning received an OTA system update that I have not installed. Any idea what this may be??

Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 4.2.5
Ugh.. the OTA system update killed my WIFI and other apps. It is the MKZ update. Don't update! It won't allow me to get back to Clockwork Mod to recover my last Nandroid backup as it boots only to Android recovery. I have rooted again but no luck.

First off thanks for the help so far. I just got my s4 the other day. I got root to work fine but I'm having issues with the recovery. When I go to download the file through goomanager it won't download.. It says its starting but doesn't. Someone in the youtube comments suggested to just d/l on pc and use odin to put it on the phone. Odin doesn't open the file for me. I transferred it over from pc to phone sd card but don't know how to open it with my phone. I did not do the 4.3 update that is waiting to be done. Should I try that first?

Please tell my how you are doing on this! I have the exact same problem. Except my update wasn't MKZ, it was MK2. I have having the same problems however. Let me know if you find a solution.

Mine seems to succeed, but I still don't have root. I've tested with root checker and it says I don't. Previously root checker would lock up on me.

My phone is on build JSS15J.L720VPUEMJA

I've been following these steps and downloads:

So I'm guessing we MJA breaks the ability to root at this time?

I did the OTA yesterday too. I have no wifi like others, but titanium backup still works. IT seems to be a partial root. This has been an issue since the last OTA, but this time I lost my wifi. I'll stay tuned in case anyone comes up with a solution. Baseband L720VPUEMJA Kernel 3.4.0-1927016 build number JSS15J.L720VPUEMK2:confused:

Yes. my main problem is that when i try to turn on wifi, it just automatically turns it back off. the only real "root" apps i have right now are adblocker and avast mobile antivirus.

MK2 Root Process

I haven't seen a definitive answer anywhere on rooting with the new MK2 update... Does anyone have some advice? Thanks!

Yes, I seem to be having the same issue as well. I can't get Odin to recognize my phone in download mode & I've tried to install the drivers but no luck. My internet device is about dead so I'm needing to hotspot my phone.

Edit: apparently the driver file I downloaded from the phone must've been incomplete or something because I was able to get connected on my desktop, downloaded the drivers, ran it and Odin finally recognized my phone. I got the SuperSU all up in my apps drawer so I'm good to hotspot and beats drivers this thing.

Edit: Ok, so I'm being told there's no SuperSU binary and that I should manually re-root.

Edit: jeez, seems like this question has been going on for several weeks and no one can give us ANY answers? Or even at least acknowledge that the problem has been noted & being worked on? What kind of S4 community is going on here? Guess the mods have finally ruined this site & should look elsewhere for my answers?

I'm getting the SU binary error as well...

Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda app-developers app

I followed this method: www0youtube0com/watch?v=s_hXUJ-u-cw

And got the Odin results:

<OSM> Check MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..
<OSM> Please wait..
<OSM> CF-Auto-Root-jfltespr-jfltespr-sphl720.tar.md5 is valid.

The SU app says:

"There is no SU binary installed, and Super SU cannot install it. This is a problem!

If you just upgraded to Android 4.3, you need to manually re-root - consult the relevant forums for your device!"

Since motochopper isn't available for my device anymore, what can I do?

Thanks for any help!

[edit] I know it's the holiday season but I could use some direction!
