I will try and get an updated root video for MDL builds soon. In the meantime you can follow this thread:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2277480

My simple instructions... Download shabby modified kernel and root zip, put them on internal storage.

Download a custom recovery and flash it via odin (make sure auto reboot is unchecked). once done in odin, boot the phone into recovery mode and flash the kernel then the zip.

OR you can follow my how to unroot video to get back to MDC and just use motochopper. Your choice.

So I used odin to get back to MDC, but now the OTA update notification will not go away and it is extremely annoying. Any ideas on how to get rid of this?

Change all the build props that have MDC in them to MDL n reboot profit no more update anymore I think there is 6 to change

Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda app-developers app

I was actually planning on updating to MDL and using the other root method, but every time I tried to update it would never reboot. And then it went away. Not sure why.

Trying this method to root my phone, my phone is not showing in the adb devices. Running adb v1.0.26.

And yes usb debugging is on.

OK, so Chainfire has a new version of CF-auto-root specifically for Sprint. So far a couple of reports of it working on MDL but sketchy info at this point so I'm not advocating trying that method just yet. Those who have reported didn't specify their setup (whether completely stock MDL with all files updated, etc, previously rooted, custom recovery) going into the operation. File here http://download.chainfire.eu/325/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-jfltespr-jfltespr-sphl720.zip Stands to reason this would work since we no longer need the custom kernel beforehand to root.

My setup/story...
1. Was on stock rooted MDC.. No custom recovery installed just used motochopper to gain root.
2. Installed voodoo ota root keeper and temp'ed unrooted the phone.
3. Accepted the ota and updated to the latest ota MDL version.
4. Restored root without any problems. Didn't get any security nag as I updated to the latest Supersu 1.30.
5. Completely removed root using Supersu. ( still on MDL)
6. Downloaded cfautoroot and flashed it using Odin ( I was the first to test and report that cfautoroot works before releasing to public)
7. I got my phone fully rooted without installing any custom recovery nor custom kernel. Just cfautoroot.

Hope this helps :)
