MF9 is the latest update pushed out to the Sprint version, containing Apps2SD support and several other changes. If you can help it, skip the account setups and have them download the update in-store over Wi-Fi (Best Buy will, not sure about Sprint stores). Once installed, factory reset and then go about adding/creating your info. It'll save you some headaches in a few days.Noon questions what's the difference between mdl and Mf9 getting galaxy s4 Saturday and going to root it which will take 5 mins compare rooting a HTC phone

Just follow the instructions in the video and you will be fine. It has been updated.Hi All, I'm a noobie so please bear with me if my questions sound lame. I just read through the 17 pages in this thread and still a bit confused.
I have had my S4 for about 2 weeks and want to root it. I'm running MF9 totally stock. The video was straight forward and I want to go for it, but some of the later posts about MF9 sound contradictory. One even sounded like I'd have trouble since I am already running for 2 weeks. Any recommendations??
Greg
Edit: Will I need Triangle Away using this method for rooting??
Thanx Someguyatx,Just follow the instructions in the video and you will be fine. It has been updated.
Hi shif, since the op hasent posted it yet, would you like to type them up? I'm sure the op will repost your process steps even if you post them as a reply..I hate to be a downer but videos are INCREDIBLY annoying when you're trying to figure out how to do something. It'd be really nice if you could take the time to make a text-based version of this for people who don't want to sit through a video.
Hmm, I'm sorry to hear that, I usually root before I have everything installed, this way I can backup immediately and have a totally stock/rooted setup, then I will setup and nandroid at that point.Well, I was going to...
Except that this root method just about bricked my phone. It was bricked in the literal sense, but it more or less broke my ROM (stock MF9, which the CF-AutoRoot thread claims works with this method). I ended up having to download stock FW and reflash in Odin3 just to get a phone that would boot.
I ended up just putting CWM on it and installing the latest CM10 nightly.
