CURRENTLY NOT WORKING! Need to bypass the NAND hardware lock. I have another exploit that should give root in recovery mode for any 2.1 phone. Will post when finished.
It's a shame that no other DEV whatsoever even reads this post, they could at least try to help us or show some support...after all, aren't we all at XDA for the same reason?

To help and to be helped?

Thank YOU Wag3 for trying what no one else gave a damn! If you need some beta testers, me and I think Joe too are willing to do it mate! Just pm or post here and we'll come running :)

( Since I've been fooled on a Desire business while purchasing it to a fraudlent guy I'm very pleased to see a DEV working on our case btw)

I honestly hope you are the guy that cracks the Legend, simply because it has been YOU the only one gaving Legend users attention, and promptly tried to help us when we requested. :)

regards

hey guys, I just remembered something...

well, our problem is that version 2.03.405.3 is not rooted right? And we want root...so... in order to have root we have two options:

a) someone cracks the 2.03.405.3 bootloader 43.0003

b) we downgrade through an RUU file to a previous rootable version like 1.31.xx (that at the moment isn't possible simply due to the bootlader version being different i think)

Since we are still doing development on the "a" point...maybe we can develop "b" point also, and who knoe...maybe it's easier...

Does anyone think it's possible to use part of the desire bootloader downgrade process found here http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-desire-desire-modaco-com/310970/how-to-downgrade-hboot/ in order to downgrade our own bootloaders(of the legend that is)?

I think that if we actually could downgrade the bootloader, we could flash a previous RUU version, could we not?

This is just a thought... the objective continues option "a", but maybe we could do this the other way...

(yes I know...too much free time...lol)

this is the last post on the desire bootloader downgrading process, bu the guy doesn't have root, just followed the guide and when stuck...he changed the final steps of the process...

I find that it did not work when I tried using a terminal app on the phone itself, i would get permission denied errors.
However, i instead did it in shell in adb.

so

instead of typing the two commands in a terminal program on the phone, type ' adb shell ' in the same window you issued the previous adb commands
enter the two commands
type exit to exit the shell
carry on with the adb reboot oem-78 command

that worked quite happily on a non-rooted, 1.21 phone.

now downgraded back to 0.75 bootloader allowing me to install the older rom i need for testing at work.

Devs speak up!

I pulled the instructions so this thread wouldn't get too crazy. I have another idea that I am pretty certain will work for installing superuser.apk in rooted mode.

It doesn't give the ability to load custom roms, but it's still root. Come back in a few hours and check on the thread again.
