OK....can someone confirm this for me.
I am stock, locked and rooted...my OTA failed due to some frozen apps.
So I would take the dlpkgfile and place it in /cache
I would then place the "command"file from the link in #5 and place that in c/cache/recovery
Then reboot into recovery and it should install on it's own?
Can anyone confirm this for me? Anyone locked have success with this process?

Also anyone have the dlpkgfile they can mirror...the original one generated too much traffic and is no longer available.
I can confirm that this does work.

I am also stock, locked, and rooted.

First JB OTA failed for me because I had frozen apps. I unfroze them, rebooted, waited for OTA notification, but it never came.

So, I did the steps you noted above. WORKED! I'm now on JB, with no problems.

Awesome. I will Probably be doing this tonight or tomorrow. Thanks for checking this out for me.

did you put the "command.zip" file in /cache/recovery/command? or is there a file inside that .zip that goes there. that was my main concern about the instructions over there.

hopefully once i get this completed successfully i can post a step by step process since, i feel like i cam somewhat competent and i barely understood the instructions...lol

The 'command' thing is a plain text file you place under the /cache/recovery directory. If you have a zip file, you need to extract the contents into /cache/recovery/.

Your recovery reads the contents of this file and executes the commands inside.

anyone know if a custom bootanimation file will cause it to fail?
i am at a loss, i unfroze all my apps, and restored my original build.prop file and still a no go...bootanimation is my last guess.

I don't know it its just me but my tab has been randomly rebooting since I installed jb. Already did a factory reset and still reboots randomly. My tab is unusable cos of this. I'll just wait for jb to be available from Asus website and reflash that one.

Edit: Flashed the one from Asus website. Still the same..random reboots whenever I am using the tab. Also, my tablet no longer produces any sound. It's like the speakers aren't working anymore.

Hooray!

I just finished putting jelly beans all over my WW version using this method, although now that the US firmware can now be downloaded off the Asus website, you no longer need to go past step 3 in the OP. Simply extract the firmware from the downloaded zip you get from the Asus site, then paste it in the /sdcard folder on the tablet (can be done without root). Reboot, and let the magic happen!:victory:

On a completely unrelated side note, I noticed this update installs Chrome alongside the stock browser. Cool. Tried it...now answer me this. Why in the hell can Google not add a simple tick box that says "Always Request Desktop Site" to the chrome settings. I mean they wrote it into the stock browser, why not into Chrome as well.

How does the tab automatically "do it's thing" by placing the file from the Asus site in the sdcard storage?

The files that are downloaded from the asus site are formatted such that as soon as you copy one into the /sdcard folder on the tab, you are prompted with a notification asking if you want to upgrade to the new firmware. Sometimes the notification won't pop up until after a reset.

The notification should appear as a "caution" sign with a "!" in the middle. Simply click the notification and choose to apply.

Note that if you used a microSD card to copy the downloaded file to your tab, both will appear as being useable once you click the above mentioned notification, so I'd suggest removing the microSD card after the copy over is complete, and prior to clicking the notification.

Hope that answers your question:victory:
