When you apply the OTA update, a new kernel is installed.
Because the bootloader is locked, during the OTA update process the digital signature of the new kernel is written to the TA partition.
If you install the update using FlashTool, the bootloader will detect the kernel as one unofficial (even so) and your phone will refuse to boot because flashtool can not change TA and write the digital signature (if could, no need to unlock the bootloader).
This means that if you dont want to unlock your bootloader, you'll have to wait for the update arrives you as OTA or in Sony PC Companion.

What???

You can flash any firmware with flashtool, no root or bl unlock required. Flashtool uses the exact same files that sony update service / pc companion uses.

Sorry, perhaps my english was not clear enough.
Sure, you can flash any Sony official firmware with FlashTool, that's not a problem. The problem is TA Partition.

When the bootloader is locked, it reads the firmware's digital signatures in TA Partition.
For the update to happen correctly, the OTA or PC Companion must add the new digital signature to TA. If the digital signature is not present in TA, even if it's the official Sony Firmware the phone won't boot.

This means that if your bootloader is locked and you apply an update using FlashTool to the phone will not boot (remember FlashTool can not change TA).

So at the beginning of this thread says Bootloader unlocked.

Attached is a picture where they were registered to TA updates upto 10.5.A.0.230. If you flash 10.5.1.A.0.283 in a phone with locked bootloader and no firmware registered using Flashtool the phone would refuse to boot. (I say this because I tried it).

If you're saying that flashing firmware with Flashtool if your bootloader is locked will brick your phone, then I'm sorry, but you're talking total nonsense. I and many others updated to 10.5.1.A.0.283 with Flashtool. In fact, I haven't updated with anything but Flashtool since 4.2.2.

The TA partition contains an area that logs are written to and that is where it appears your screenshot is from.

Please research before commenting further.

Please research before commenting further, especially as it seems you don't even have a working Xperia Z according to your post history.

I'll explain why I say this (of course, may I'm wrong, I'm human), maybe it's an isolated case, anyway, this made me comment as I done:

My phone was running Android 4.4.2 (Sony Firmware 10.5.a.0.230).
Make a copy of TA in 10.5.a.0.230 with their MD5 and SHA512.
I downloaded a FTF Global HSPA 10.5.1.A.0.283 and flashed using Flashtool.
The phone did not turn on.
Using FlashTool formated Data and Cache, the phone did not turn on.
Using FlashTool returned the phone to 10.5.a.0.230, boot up like new.
Came and applied the update via OTA, excellent.

----- SO I STARTED TO PLAY ----

I got a new copy of TA (from 10.5.1.a.0.283) and the two checksum (MD5 and SHA512) were different.
Flashed the downloaded FTF using the FlashTool and phone ran smoothly.
Being in 10.5.1.a.0.283 TA I restored a copy I had taken in 10.5.a.0.230 and the phone did not turn on.
I downgrade to 10.5.a.0.230 using flashtool and restored copy of TA that brought in 10.5.1.a.0.283.
Using Flashtool upgraded to 10.5.1.a.0.283.
I enjoyed my update.

I don't know what went wrong but it make me thing like that. The diferences between the checksums make me think that my problem was TA.

hi.
thanks for the reply.
i saw your comment just after i flashed my device.. and it worked! :)
phone booted into the new 4.4.4 version.
so, my next question is, what the hell is my phone version?
i bought it 4 months ago, on the back of the package of the phone it was written that my phone is "demo version, not for sale".
and it came with ommercial&Journalists version of android.
so that means my phone is pre - bootloader unlocked?

As I can see, I was the only one that have a bricked phone when updated using FlashTool and I had to apply the OTA (that just worked fine).
In your case, you have no problem!!! you can enjoy your update!! (not like me, it bricked my phone so I have to downgrade, etc) :D

You can verify your bootloader status:
1. *#*#7378423#*#* in the dialer.
2. Tap on Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status
If it say: "bootloader unlock allowed: yes" or "bootloader unlock allowed: no" your bootloader is locked; if it say "bootloader unlocked: yes" your bootloader is unlocked.
Comment your bootloader status, it sounds like a interesting question.
