Mine reset to factory settings. The above instructions worked perfect!

Now does anyone know of any steps on how to fix the RAM issue associated with the IHOP pudding?I tried following the links here, but it was just too confusing.

Hi all,

I just got one question. After applying the unlocker will my phone reset to factory?
Thank you in advance.

Be cautious, backup all your important files when doing anything like this. The files on your memory card will be safe though.

Smooth until the last step

Hi,

I followed all of the steps, and after I entered "fastboot oem unlock [my unique id]", my phone said "Unlocking your device may VOID your warranty", as expected.

My command prompt, however, will not proceed any further. I have been waiting for 15-25 minutes and it will not say "unlocked". Last thing is gives me is "..."

Should I perform a battery pull and try again? I can't type anything in my command prompt.

This could be a couple of things.

1. Did RSDLite run properly in the steps before this?
If so I would definitely try to perform a battery pull and try again
2. It may also have a problem if you are usinga desktop USB port on the front of your computer. Try plugging directly into your motherboard at the back.
3.If all else fails, Try clicking your 'start' type "cmd" and when the app shows up, Right click it and 'run as administrator'

Please get back to me with your findings !

Could someone clarify something for me? A few months ago when I read about the unlocking procedure, I remember it was mentioned there was a side-effect to unlocking. I think it was that once unlocked, you wouldn't be able to update your phone via the OTAs provided by the provider.

Is that still the case? I'd like to unlock the bootloader in the event the phone doesn't get ICS or any further updates from Bell. However, if my old hero was any example, CM can sometimes be much less stable than provider builds and I wouldn't like to be left out from the original provider roms.

Awesome thread. I'm actually considering buying a Bell atrix locally for about $280 and selling my AT&T atrix to offset the cost. I figure whatever I spend out of pocket I'll make back in a few months

The pudding thread always rubbed me the wrong way...It is so confusing I didn't even USE the thread to unlock and just based myself off other random threads

and this whole food thing is out of control..pudding..fruitcakes..it makes things more confusing than they have to be..it's easier to just say "unlocked bootloader" and "stripped SBF"

I can't get it to work. Everything works fine until step step 13. When I try that I get this:

C:\Users\***\Desktop\Motounlock>fastboot oem unlock
< waiting for device >
I read in this thread and elsewhere it's an issue with drivers, and the drivers supplied in the pudding thread didn't work, it said my processor doesn't support them. So instead of using those I manually installed the latest drivers and it still doesn't work.

If anyone could help me out I'd be super grateful!!! Cheers.

I was just wondering if you this is weird, The atrix I have has 2.2.2 on it, and no updates available.. apparently it has a different version on it.. something like .. Retail.en.FR

does that mean it was already unlocked (bootloader) or something, is there a way to know that? because even when I connect it to pc with the moto software, it looks up for updates and say No Updates..

any Idea?

thanks
im also having the same problem The atrix that i have has 2.2.2. System version 4.4.20.MB860.Orange.en.GB. When I connect to moto software it shows my phone is up to date and there are no updates available. I have rooted my phone and also its not being used under the Orange UK carrier anymore. Is this the reason why im not getting any official updates? if so, is there any way that i can upgrade to 2.3.4??...although i have seen how to get 2.3.4 from 2.2.2 for ATT US...can i try that on my phone without bricking it?and if i cant upgrade then can i just follow tayshun12's instructions to get Nottach's Darkside ROM installed in my atrix?

can anyone Please help.i am new at all this and getting really confused...thanks in advance:)

What version of windows are you running? I used windows 7 x64 so make sure you are using the correct drivers!

I dont think having the bootloader unlocked would not allow you to update your stock firmware. It just gives you the option to put custom firmwares on. What it does do for certain is put an 'unlocked' text at the top left of your phone so that if you ever send it back to moto they know you unlocked it. unlocking DOES void your warranty. But if you stick to THE ORIGINAL CARRIERS FIRMWARE ( ATT= ATT, BELL = BELL. NEVER ATT= BELL , Vice Versa) or use a firmware with a UNIFIED KERNEL(they will usually say FAUX123 somewhere in the thread) you WILL be fine! especially after you put on the custom recovery.

I will have to look into that for you. I want to say that this will work for 2.2.2+ but I would not want you to take any risks. EDIT: under the pudding thread there is no specific version for your phone. My 2 cents says that it will work on your version because they do not have anything specific.

Broken Link

The "RSDlite 5.5 link" on the pudding instructions is bad, I attached a screen shot of the redirect. I would've posted there, but I haven't posted enough to do so.

Edit: Found it on google, would link here, but can't.

Hi all,

[/LIST]
Proper Recovery:

1. After your bootloader unlocked go to this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1204500

2. Scroll down to where it says "ALL USERS" and download your favourite colour. (NOT THE ZIP VERSION) Place it in the motounlock folder that you have on your desktop.

3. Press the windows key + R on your computer, type cmd and press enter

4. A Command prompt will open. type cd C:\users\YOURNAME\desktop\motounlock press 'enter'

5. type "fastboot devices" Press Enter.
5b. type "fastboot erase recovery" Press Enter.
5c. type "fastboot flash recovery recovery-atrix5.img" Press Enter.

Wait for the command prompt to say : "writing 'recovery'... OKAY ['The amount of seconds it took here']"

5d.type "fastboot reboot"

DO NOT FORGET TO DO THIS PART: After the install of RomRacers recovery boot up your phone. Open up your favourite file browser (I used Astro file manager to do this ) and navigate to /system/etc/ and delete the file called 'install-recovery.sh'

You will be set 100% !
The link for this section is not working anymore....

I have 2.3.4. When I run "fastboot oem unlock" it does not give me a unique ID anywhere... I dont see anything that could even be an ID.

This is what I get back in the command prompt:

...
<bootloader> OEM Unlock is not implemented
OKAY[0.002s]
finished. total time: 0.002s

Where would this ID be?

My Atrix came yesterday and it was apparently MB860.O2.DE on Froyo 2.2.1 or 2.2.2 and was 'up to date'. (I cannot fathom what possessed them to sell german phones on America, but whatever...) I decided to just wing it and consider it an "International" phone per your instructions, worst case scenario I guessed that I would have to flash a new kernel manually.

Since I couldn't wait to get rid of that abortion Motorola calls MotoBlur, I unlocked the bootloader, rooted (should probably add that step to the guide, since it's not necessarily obvious to new people... :p), loaded CWM, and installed The DarkSide 3.1.2 Lite ROM with no problems other than had to apply the RAM fix for international Atrix after I was done in order to see all of my memory.

Hopefully this will either give enough courage to you guys waiting on what to do or at least some info on which phones/OS Versions the process will work.
