timfoote and callsignappollo which Telstra build version were you running when you used this guide?

I've recently received and installed the OTA update to Build Number 4.5.2A-74_OLE-31.
Do I need to flash back to an older version?

Thank you so much man.

It's people like you that really save a 1000 of us from peril! Do you by any chance know a very good tutorial on how to enable webtop over hdmi (one that works for bell)? Of course, I have found that massive thread on webtop hack, but there appears to be few posts or guidance for Bell Phones :p.

Anyways, Thank you so much!

stuck at the exclamation mark screen

Hi,

To solve my "stuck at the exclamation mark screen" I dowloaded moto-flashboot from here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=GB4VV9ZW

I can now access the cwm android recovery screen.

Thanks!

I have to post instructions on how to install CWM there are some issues. This was happening to me as well until I installed Romracers recovery.

Follow these instructions and update me on what your findings are.

What ROM are you on? I'm currently using DarkSide ROM and get webtop over HDMI.

Hey, thank you so much for putting this together, it's a huge help and I really appreciate it a lot. I'm new to android and wouldn't have been able to give roms a shot without this!

One small problem...

DO NOT FORGET TO DO THIS PART: After the install of RomRacers recovery boot up your phone. Open up your favourite file browser (I used Astro file manager to do this ) and navigate to /system/etc/ and delete the file called 'install-recovery.sh'

You will be set 100% !
When I tried to delete 'install-recovery.sh' it said "error deleting file". Is this going to be an issue/is their something I've done wrong or should do to be able to delete this file? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

Edit:
Tried deleting it with androxplorer as well with no luck. Can I proceed to trying roms without deleting this file or will it cause problems?

Issues not being able to boot to CWM recovery or deleting install-recovery.sh

I had this issue and this may be a solution, as it was for me. So I'll make this noticeable since it seems unclear to many.

Anyone having issues not being able to boot into CWM recovery after flashing it (such as seeing android guy with exclamation mark):

Delete or rename /system/etc/install-recovery.sh AND /etc/install-recovery.sh I renamed mine to bkup.install-recovery.sh in case i ever wanted to use them again for some reason.

/etc/install-recovery.sh will automatically be placed in /system/etc if /system/etc/install-recovery.sh is not found on boot.
So, you must delete or rename both, THEN INSTALL CWM recovery.

I renamed the files using ROM Toolbox's root explorer as some file explorers will not give you the proper access levels to delete or rename the files correctly.

Note: If you are booting into recovery and are stuck on the screen with the Android guy and the exclamation mark warning symbol, it is actually not frozen. Press volume up or volume up and down at the same time (i forget which works) and it brings up the stock android recovery menu (not CWM) and you can reboot from there instead of pulling the battery if you wish.

Thank you for the reply.

The other file browsers weren't letting me delete/rename the file so I downloaded ROM Toolbox that you mentioned. When I tried to load it up it told me I wasn't rooted and closed. I found and used a root method which was very easy (would link but apparently I'm not allowed to yet)

After that I was able to rename the files and I've gone through the recovery steps again. I should be good to try new roms now!

Thanks to the OP for an awesome guide and ar31791 for the tip about using rom toolbox. I'd never be able to to do this on my own so I really appreciate that people like you help out.

Hi all, I have flash the ROM MIUI that XDA done some days ago, and I have some problems (Mabe this not be the correct place for this post)

1 - Battery life: I have more than 10% off from my battery after install MIUI rom. In most part off the time is in standby. If I use internet or GPS the battery desapear.

2 - I cant access the internal memory of the phone using the file explorer.

Any one else is using MIUI custom ROM? I think that the way is come back to CM7 until the MIUI for ATRIX is on beta or stable version.

I waiting for replays.

Thanks in Advance,

Carlos Moura

ATRIX 4G with MIUI (2.3.7).
Post in that ROM's developer thread.

Well, my Atrix died yesterday. I have a new one now, will be using this guide again tonight.. luckily I still have RSDlite etc ready from when I did it originally, thanks for the updated link though.
Just to let everybody know that callsignapollo's Atrix is not dead because of this guide. It was because of a completely unrelated accident. I asked him myself :). I hope nobody read this comment and has cold feet about following my guide!

This is a great write-up! I have a question (noob one...sorry) I will be receiving a lapdock shortly and am running Dorian's RC1. I am wanting to install webtop on my atrix so I can use the lapdock (I think this is how it works). I am thinking of using Darkside but am wondering what I need to flash so I can use the lapdock? I have read several threads and am a bit confused...

Thanks!
