My tablet is definitely using the adoptable storage for new installs etc. as I have installed games and apps that previously the tablet complained about not having enough space available to install. Currently my tablet reports:
10.5GB of 16GB internal storage used
12.37GB of 58.87GB adoptable storage used
125MB of 59.86GB portable storage used

And the big number at the top is totally wrong still :) -21477494784.00 B Total used of 16.00GB
Good lucky, your System will completely Break down if you use more internal Space. This only seems working until you really (!) use the adoptable Storage. With 6 GByte free space on internal you wont see the real Disfunction.

I am at 13.73 of 16 used, still no issue. Have you actually encountered someone who had a problem?

Hi, I post this a year later. I tried your solution on my sony xperia Z2, currently running on Androïd 6.0.1.
I have a problem doing the 4th step. It seems like my disk is not recognized or something like this. I have this error message:
"Error: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: command '83 volume partition 179,64 private' failed with '500 83 Unknown disk' "
I tried the sm devices to see if my computer recognize the device, it works.
Also, I entered these lines:
"[email protected]:/ $ sm list-disks
disk:179,64
[email protected]:/ $ sm partition 179,64 private" (also tried by using mixed 50 instead of private)
Did I do a mistake there? Do I need to root my phone previous to that manipulation?

I'd be very thankfull if you could answer my problem. Have a good day :)

EDIT: it was my fault, i should have wrote "sm partition disk:179,64 private"

BUT there is another problem: although it did work with my previous 4go SD card, it did not work with my 512 class 10 SD card. I tried private, mixed... Nothing work. The volume which is supposed to be private come as "unmountable" and the phone read it as corrupted.

Also, it looks like the range which you can use to mix the card is only between 10 to 90. Which means I can't do a private partition that is smaller than 50Go. And apparently, my xperia Z2 can't handle that much space to mount as private.
Does anyone have suggestions on how I can mount this 50Go space as private (aka internal) storage? Or maybe lure the phone into "thinking" my card is only like 32Go, this way I can easily mount it as private (aka internal) storage?

Thank you all if you can help me :)

Hi, how is it working one year later? Do you still have the tablet?

Thanks!
It's still working fine, I do think the SD card reader is slower than the built in storage, but it hasn't blown up or anything. And I've downloaded tons of files to it.

I wish Sony would hurry up with a new tablet. The Z4 is still too expensive and it's getting really out of date.
