wait, couldn't you just use windows as shown in the edible pudding thread?I ust spent about a hour trying to do this without actually installing ubuntu, just using a disk and booting from demo mode but that didnt work.
ill wait till there is a way for windows i guess.
btw, is this worth the effort? not saying its hard, but yeah.i honestly could care less for the fingerprint reader.
no you should use moto modified one , because the stock fastboot does not let u to flash such a large file on system partition i think. (system.img )wait, couldn't you just use windows as shown in the edible pudding thread?
You don't need to obtain anything. Ubuntu should just recognize it. I did it in VMWare as well. Just direct it to the directory where moto-fastboot is.how do i get linux drivers so it will detect the phone? I'm running ubuntu in vmware player
I did it via ubuntu live.. x86-64I ust spent about a hour trying to do this without actually installing ubuntu, just using a disk and booting from demo mode but that didnt work.

it keeps saying waiting for device when i run the moto-fastboot command. and in vmware when i go to connect moto device to vmware it comes up driver installation unsuccessfulYou don't need to obtain anything. I noticed this too, but have not really noticed any battery drain / slowness because of it.has anyone seen this in logcat? (in the HKTW leaked build ofcourse)
06-24 06:13:11.636 1451 1499 E NetlinkEvent: NetlinkEvent::FindParam(): Parameter 'UDEV_LOG' not found
06-24 06:13:11.636 1453 1532 E NetlinkListener: ignoring non-kernel netlink multicast message
06-24 06:13:11.636 1451 1499 E NetlinkListener: ignoring non-kernel netlink multicast message
my logcat is filled with these messages and hence the UI resonse is slow and battery drains super quick.
my phone is always warm... i attribute this heating issue with processor not reaching the lower voltage/frequency plane.I noticed this too, but have not really noticed any battery drain / slowness because of it.
So we can flash this with Windows now?Here's a Cygwin-compiled version for Windows. Because its compiled using gcc4 under Cygwin, it requires the Cygwin DLLs (included in the zip). I'll try to find some time later today to compile it with MinGW32 instead.
sending 'boot' (3358 KB)... OKAY [ 0.320s]
writing 'boot'... FAILED (remote: (00180002))
