I ust spent about a hour trying to do this without actually installing ubuntu, just using a disk and booting from demo mode but that didnt work.

ill wait till there is a way for windows i guess.

btw, is this worth the effort? not saying its hard, but yeah.i honestly could care less for the fingerprint reader.

I did it via ubuntu live.. x86-64

it is really easy if you just follow the instructions.

or, wait until tomorrow as sbf based method is coming tomorrow.

has anyone seen this in logcat? (in the HKTW leaked build ofcourse)

06-24 06:13:11.636 1451 1499 E NetlinkEvent: NetlinkEvent::FindParam(): Parameter 'UDEV_LOG' not found
06-24 06:13:11.636 1453 1532 E NetlinkListener: ignoring non-kernel netlink multicast message
06-24 06:13:11.636 1451 1499 E NetlinkListener: ignoring non-kernel netlink multicast message

my logcat is filled with these messages and hence the UI resonse is slow and battery drains super quick.

I noticed this too, but have not really noticed any battery drain / slowness because of it.

my phone is always warm... i attribute this heating issue with processor not reaching the lower voltage/frequency plane.
and that i will attribute to some process waking every half a second and doing something that causes the prints.

Here's a Cygwin-compiled version for Windows. Because its compiled using gcc4 under Cygwin, it requires the Cygwin DLLs (included in the zip). I'll try to find some time later today to compile it with MinGW32 instead.

Edit: Removed Cygwin version. Added MinGW32 instead.

fix for webtop with lapdock

Since I have the lapdock and did not want to revert to Froyo, I thought I'd give a more detailed explanation than the hint I worked from to re-enable webtop (with firefox 4.0.1!):

Download the leaked HK/TW sbf file and the 'sbf_flash' for linux (I did this under 32-bit ubuntu).

use sbf_flash -x 1FF-olympus_hktw...sbf

This will extract a collection of .img files.

Place your device in fastboot mode via the volume-down then volume-up procedure and verify it exists with:

sudo ./moto-fastboot32 devices

Then:

sudo ./moto-fastboot32 flash webtop CG61.img

This will run a 3-step flashing process. Once completed, do:

sudo ./moto-fastboot32 reboot

Voila. Webtop works and actually seems faster.

Hope this helps.

Does anyone know why I get this error with both Linux and romracer's Windows Fastboot running the first line?

Code:
      sending 'boot' (3358 KB)... OKAY [ 0.320s]
                writing 'boot'... FAILED (remote: (00180002))
