[HowTo] Remove annoying EMUI square app icon backgrounds

Problem with white shades is not due to any MM 6.0 bug, in my opinion.
I instaled some free themes form here (updated EMUI 4.0 versions) and those problems are not present:

You are right, I was not very assertive...it is annoying rather than a bug

thanks, finally something thats working... BUT! what about the wallpapers and menus???? do they also change to default. i am wondering whether the tweak only changes the icons or also other theme components?

no idea, since im using nova launcher anyways, the stock themes / wallpapers are overwritten in my case anyways

make sure u have both root explorer and show hidden files option enabled in the file explorer app ure using...

Actually I think a much easier way to remove icon background is to simply install a no-icon-background theme, such as Material EMUI or the new Android N theme, both are available here on XDA. You don't need to root or risk deleting anything, the default icons will be better looking too.

for that ull either have to root ur phone and use an app like titanium backup to uninstall system apps or u can try and disable them via their app info...

yes, unfortunately... ull need to have root access and also activate the option to make hidden folders visible....
