Hi
After I rooted my legend, I installed the fake flash. Then I wanted to install a new ROM, but something went wrong, and my phone was unrooted. Then i tried to follow this guide again to root my phone, but now I can't complete step 2. I've tried in both windows and ubuntu, but nothing works. What should I do ?
Edit: found out that i just had to close htc sync process, then it went smoothly :)

Hi, been looking through this forum, but I'm out of luck it seems.

I get the following msg during the first step:

Erasing cache and rebooting in RUU mode...

erasing 'cache'... OKAY
... OKAY

About to start flash...
< waiting for device >
sending 'zip' (121756 KB)... OKAY
writing 'zip'... INFOadopting the signature contained in this image...

INFOchecking custom ID...
INFOchecking main version...
FAILED (remote: 43 main version check fail)

INFOchecking custom ID...

Rebooting to bootloader...

rebooting into bootloader... OKAY

Step 1 complete - now use the bootloader menu to enter recovery mode.

Probably the 'FAILED (remote: 43 main version check fail)' causing problems for me. Any ideas? Im on a unlocked Legend with the 0.43.0001 version bootloader(?).

Obviously downgrading solved the problem! Got it working now!

I now enjoy the great features of 2.2 on my legend!

Thanks to all the experts on xda for the rooting guides and continued updates on roms and such!

Cheers!

Fellow xda-dev members,

after FroYo came out I wanted to upgrade my device, as I was still running 1.31. I wanted to root it at the same time, cause without it I can't upgrade it - my phone had no OTAs available.

I followed this HOWTO and now after I solved problems with connection during the first step I'm stucked in the second step. My phone is turning on, but I have no signal, no phone functionality.

This is what happens:
I wanted to post a print screen here, but that feautre is not working for me.
kodem.fm.interia.pl/Legend%20Bricked.jpg
basicaly it's daemon not running, starting on port...; daemon started successfully; daemon still not running, cannot connect to daemon; adb server is out of date, killing; daemon started successfully; daemon still not running etc

Have I done everything right? Phone of course turned on in recovery mode, the picture of a phone and debugging mode (red sign) on the screen, after the process is done the boot screen is not displayed - it's still the phone with red symbol of debug.

I would appreciate help, as it is rather hard to live without a phone.

I have a laptop computer running Windows 7 x64.

edit: it was on for some time and it found network, wifi also working. So I guess it is just formated, but that doesn't change the key part: how to root it now? What to do, so that step two goes ahead?

Details of the phone:
baseband 47.26.35.04U_7.05.35.26L
Software 1.31.405.4
hboot 043.0001

Hi

I am new in this forum. I bought my HTC Legend yesterday and because of some stupid reasons it has not MARKET app:confused:. The phone locale contains Egypt, UAE and Saudi Arabia. Now I want to change my Locale to somewhere else.
As far as I understand in this forum, I can flash my phone rom to another rom. But I confused how to do that because my phone is unlock and unbranded originally.
Can anyone describe what should I do to update from my phone original rom to another official rom. Which version of official roms is better?
My phone details are as below:

LEGEND PVT SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.43.0003
MICROP-0816
TOUCH PANEL-SYN07-0105
RADIO-7.08-35.21
APR 30 2010 23:52:18
FIRMWARE VERSION : 2.1
BASEBAND VERSION: 47.39.39.09U_7.08.35.21
KERNEL VERSION: 2.6.29-9D014421
[email protected]#4
BUILD NUMBER : 1.27.466.7 CL180256 release-keys
SOFTWARE NUMBER : 1.27.466.7
BROWSER VERSION : WEBKIT 3.1

Thanks for your helps in advance.

So before I start on rooting I would like to confirm the steps that I will actually be taking are suitable for my case before I begin,

Firstly I've got Hboot of 1.01
Secondly my software number is 3.15.707.3

First step: http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-legend-legend-modaco-com/323201/downgrading-from-froyo-ota/ (To make my phone downgrade-able)

Second step : http://theunlockr.com/2010/12/13/how-to-downgrade-the-htc-legend-to-1-31-so-it-can-be-rooted/ (actual downgrade) (Do I have to start from part IV)?

third step : http://theunlockr.com/2010/06/07/how-to-root-the-htc-legend/ (rooting)

Before beginning first step, HTC Sync version 2.0.33 will be needed I assume;o

Thanks in advance!! Sorry for the hassle:(

Or perhaps my steps are incorrect please do correct me or suggest an alternative method for my particular software number:eek: Lots and lots of thanks:D

This thread is almost 2 years old.
You are otherwise known as a "grave digger"

Use the htcdev method to unlock and root, there has been many discussions about it, just have a read through the different threads for legend.

Hello!

Thanks for your comments!
The phone is now rooted, but I'm not sure if properly done so. Because when trying to apply the update.zip it tells me the following:
failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Instalation aborted.

I don't now what's wrong with it, any guess?

Yeap. Unblocked the bootloader using htcdev.
When trying to recovery using S-Off method I get this error message:
cannot load "recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-legend.img"
