Hey anon2122, yes I do. Would really appreciate it if you could help me root these! :)
OK. I have them on my server and am rooting via ssh just now :)

Saves me a big upload later I hope.

I won't be able to test, but I have done this before, so I'll post as-is without warranty on here soon :)

Link will be on the villainrom cluster of servers if I get it done tonight :)

The nandroids are up! You can find them in the first post.

@Eddie1506 and @tenfar: Thanks guys! I just restored my MoDaCo 3.2 nandroid backup to retrieve some apps and contacts, will try the quick rooter in a while! :)
thanks man!
i have managed to restore it back to the SG ROM and have updated it to the latest firmware using custom recovery~
thanks!

if the quick root works, then i will use the rooted one as well! cos i want to use wifi tethering. haha.

OK. Untested. I had to make the update-script by hand, so it may not be perfect :(

But I can easily edit it on the server if it's not right.

At your own risk

http://www.villainrom.co.uk/SingaporeROM-signed-good.zip

server calculated MD5

Code:
b5c838f2be9c5535d7582122d33a455d SingaporeROM-signed-good.zip
Please tell me if it works. If it does not, try and help with the update-script error, or recovery.log.

Fixed by someone else, just updating link for anyone who sees this

Thanks, Zane Lee for the pioneer of this SEA Hero ROM. BTW, do you or anybody know what a different among Singapore ROM, Thailand ROM, and Hongkong ROM?

Here's my version of Singapore rooted update (if anon2122's version doesn't work by any chance, try this one)

http://depositfiles.com/files/5mwp72hmg

P.S. Also untested, use at own risk.

MD5
Code:
5adc26835a2b60530e64d2f058dd0622 *Hero_HTC_Asia_WWE_3.34.707.1-rooted-signed.zip
Ah cool. Let's compare method... :)

Changed default.prop to ro.secure=0 and enabled persist debug and the other one i cant remember :)

Added Superuser.apk to /system/app and su binary to /system/bin (to save a symlink)

Repacked.

I hope it works. but people have 2 shots to get it working now :)

Editing on server rules :D So much easier cos my upload is literally slower than hsdpa upload (500 kbps up on HSDPA, 240 on broadband :()

Anon tried your update but the following error in recovery
E: Can't symling /system/bin/getevent
E: Failure at line 11:symlink toolbox SYSTEM :bin/getevent

Not sure what that means ,but i have actually seen that error before. Will try eddie's ROM next. This is on a singaporean rooted HTC hero.

edit : On a different note the new radio seem nice.I am getting better data speeds(than the taiwan radio) and no issues yet while switching from wi-fi to hspda. But needs More testing

Hi everyone,

I'm currently using VillainROM 10 but encountered two final problems :
- can't get the phone to work with my car audio via bluetooth, ie. Can radial but no sound. Thereafter Bluetooth hang.
- unreliable alarm clock, even though no task killer n adjusted volume. And this happens at random day..after phone put to standby overnight..

Hopeful that this ROM will solve at least one of the problems. My Hero is native 'Singapore' afterall (Starhub)

Questions :
- for other Singapore Hero users, did U have to go through Goldcard method when U initially 'rooted' Tue phone? I asked cos I could root mine via straightforward method, which is contrary to what other reported..
- Bluetooth phone profile works for U?

Thanks!

Wow thats a first. As far as i heard most of us had to subject our hero's to the gold card "procedure" Possibly urs was on a earlier firmware. When did u buy ur phone?
Did you have any issues with HSPDA on starhub?.I find the connection better with the new radio?

Hey, Can any1 help me?
I want a root version of this 2.1 update.
What should I do?
I'm from singapore and I've already rooted my phone and using some custom roms.
But I think I prefer the official rom as I've encountered some bugs.

@ePh432 and @nirmalv: I installed Amon_RA's recovery using the FlashRec method as well. Once you have custom recovery, it's considered as rooted because you can do loads with it. As for when did I get the phone, well I got it from SingTel the first week it was released at the price of $298 with iOne Plus price plan. It was a limited price online for a couple of days before they brought it up to $398.

As for firmware wise, well, the stock 1.5 firmware (build 2.73.707.9) that I posted was what I was on initially before I switched over to MoDaCo 3.2 at some point in time. I'm not exactly happy with MoDaCo ROM because it doesn't have CIME and some Singapore/Chinese specific stuff, hence I always kept a nandroid backup of my stock image so I could do the OTA by reverting back.

And by the way for those who are having problems downloading from Deposit Files, use the SingNet proxy. It's because at port 80, SingNet users are all subjected to a mass proxy that changes every second, and that proxy is across all users and changes every few second. Set your proxy to "proxy.singnet.com.sg:8080" and try downloading from Deposit Files again. I'm currently downloading and I'll create a MegaUpload mirror later on. But if you can't wait, try using my method, because I experienced the same thing and I can download now.

@maxdy: Haha, yes it was a typo. The mass proxy is at port 80 where all web connections go (that gives you session timeouts and every other download problems on sites like Deposit Files), 8080 is the port for 'proxy.singnet.com.sg'.

By the way, how come you're on the stock recovery? I still have my Amon_RA. With the stock recovery, you can use the quick rooter after installing my nandroid. I also don't see how you could have flashed my nandroid without having a custom recovery in the first place as well.
