Hi all,
Thanks to OP for making this useful thread. I would like to ask some questions.

I have HTC One E8 Indonesia.
MID : 0PAJ40000
CID : HTC__044
S-ON
Version : 1.25.707.5 Kitkat 4.4.2

Condition: Unlocked, Rooted, TWRP recovery.

I received lolypop OTA update, but since I do not have kitkat stock recovery, it is impossible I can flash OTA update.
I decided to back to stock ROM by using RUU from India version. Hopefully somedays India will get lolypop OTA updates as well.

The steps that I will do:

1. Change CID number to HTC__038 (India version). MID is already the same.
2. Since it is S-ON, I will Relock the bootloader
3. Flash RUU Kitkat India by following guides from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2497614

Are these the correct steps? please correct me if there are some mistakes.

Thanks

Hi,

That is correct way but for point #3 I suggest using below guide :
Code:
Instructions Update RUU.zip without PC:
1. Download RUU.
2. Rename RUU to 0PAJIMG.zip (the first character is a zero, NOT A LETTER O)
3. Put renamed 0PAJIMG.zip on your external_SD
4. Boot into your bootloader and make sure your in hboot and let it update its RUU.
5. No PC, no adb, no fastboot, no terminal is needed, just a root explorer to rename and transfer the renamed RUU file to external_sd
6. After you have updated your RUU, make sure to remove the 0PAJIMG.zip from your external_sd because it will ask to update your RUU everytime your reboot to your bootloader which it is technically supposed to do but its unnecessary after you have done it once (unless you are planning on flashing RUU again).
7.Done!

But I have never flash Indonesia version with India version. Please do with your own risk.

I cannot change cidnumber from HTC__044 to HTC__038.

Code:
C:\Users\216493>fastboot oem writecid HTC__038
...
(bootloader) SecuritySDInit: counter = 6
(bootloader) mecdwgl_init_sd, SD card already power on
(bootloader) [SPEW] GPIO 0 status is 0
(bootloader) sdhci_open: id=0
(bootloader) Initializing MMC host data structure and clock!
(bootloader) mmc slot#2 clock enabled
(bootloader) clock_config_mmc: slot 2, freq 192000000
(bootloader) GPLL0 is enabled
(bootloader) clock_update_cfg_sd is done
(bootloader) sd clock set done
(bootloader) sdhci_set_bus_width: bus width 0
(bootloader) sdhci_clk_supply: freq 400000
(bootloader) Decoded CID fields:
(bootloader) Manufacturer ID: 74
(bootloader) OEM ID: 0x4a45
(bootloader) Product Name: USDU1
(bootloader) Product revision: 0.2
(bootloader) Product serial number: FA10072A
(bootloader) Manufacturing date: 6 2013
(bootloader) sdhci_clk_supply: freq 50000000
(bootloader) sdhci_set_bus_width: bus width 1
(bootloader) Done initialization of the card
(bootloader) erase_grpsize: 1232557056
(bootloader) erase_grpmult: 49152
(bootloader) wp_grpsize: 0
(bootloader) wp_grpen: 0
(bootloader) perm_wp: 0
(bootloader) temp_wp: 0
(bootloader) [Tuxera][Error] No exFAT partition found
(bootloader) [FAT_ERROR] fat_open_file: can not find SMART_IO.CRD
(bootloader) [JAVACARD_ERR] SMART_IO.CRD cann't find
OKAY [ 0.121s]
finished. total time: 0.122s
C:\Users\216493>

After I run the command, cidnum is still HTC__044

Any ideas?

Phone is S-ON, rooted, unlocker bootloader, TWRP recovery

I guess all of you want to restore to stock...

For those who need stock recovery, just make sure you get a recovery with same project.
All mec_dugl models can use 1 recovery
All mec_ul models can use 1 recovery
All mec_dwgl models can use 1 recovery

We might even all have the same, just use the above to be sure.

All OTA files in the OP contain a "firmware.zip" file... inside you can find a recovery.img

@DutchDanny,
When use recovery as you mention above we have error with finger print mis match.

How to remove finger print mis-match?

Recommended Tips for HTC One E8
    1. Instructions to update RUU.zip without PC :
    7.Done!

I meant you must have found out from somewhere or someone about e8 making twrp's official list, so that I can refer it myself.

Yes if we get twrp regularly, it might be possible more devs are getting their hands on this device and we can expect more development.
It's official because I'm maintaining it. So, like I said, I'm telling you ;).

Not at home now.... Let's see what happens with you.
My mobile downloads seem to fail.
    Now trying on my Tab
    Here's the decrypted 0PAJIMG:

    0PAJIMG_E8DWGL_2.21.720.1_decrypted.zip
    MD5: 3cd5b5403321afeb9b52b8e88520169e

Like I said previously, the above file will only work for people that are S-OFF, and have the correct CID as indicated in the included android-info.txt.

Recovery-flashable ROM is uploading, and it does in fact boot on my M8, so I assume it'll boot on an E8, lol. Just make sure you're patient with the boot up time - it may seem to stick at the "htc" screen right before the setup wizard pops up (also at the end of the bootanimation on the "htc ONE" screen), but just let it sit. It'll come up eventually ;).

    Screenshots attached!

UPDATE: Here's the stock 2.21.720.1 ROM, for E8 Dual SIM, flashable in TWRP (latest available TWRP is 2.8.5.1, btw). If nothing else, it'll at least give you a taste of Lollipop ;)
