My HTC m8 is not getting updated and is showing the following message

Software Status Modified

Mels _tunl Pvt Ship S-ON
HBOOT - 3.19.0.0000
RADIO- 1.22213311711.29G
OpenDSP-v42.2.2-00564-M8974-.0630
OS-1.80.720.1
eMMC boot 2048 MB'

PS: I have tried to relock the bootloader via downlaoding fastboot_adb and using the following commands (although I have never installed custom ROM on my phone).
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem writecid 11111111
fastboot reboot

I would like to return to the original HTc setting and update to Android 5.0 or whatever the latest update is available .

I don't understand what you are trying to accomplish with those commands.

1) Relocking the bootloader isn't necessary for OTA updates (although is needed for RUU). Relocked bootloader may make moving forward more difficult (depending on what solutions you try).
2) SuperCID 1111111 also isn't going to help your issue (so I don't know why you are trying to do it), and you can't do it with s-on.
3) Even if you haven't installed a custom ROM, its coming up as MODIFIED probably due to being rooted. You need to restore the stock ROM 1.80.720.1 (unrooting isn't enough) and stock recovery, to OTA. Alternately, you need the 1.80.720.1 RUU. I'm not too familiar with your variant, but in general, the steps I've described is what you need to do.

Read more, and see what you can learn about your variant. Because, it doesn't see like you have researched properly yet.

As @redpoint73 said, you make it harder when you relocked the bootloader.
Can you unlock it again ? If yes, you can do the following :

1. Install TWRP for M8 Eye - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=62030698&postcount=144

2. Restore the 1.80.720.1 non-rooted nandroid backup

3. Install 4.30.720.4 stock recovery.img (I don't have 1.80.720.1 recovery.img)

4. Reboot then do multiple OTA up to the latest Marshmallow

Item 2 & 3 and How-To, check my thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860

I remember there's a RUU zip for your device ... have to recheck, will advise you tomorrow if it is needed.
