  • Nearly done! Migration cleanup is mostly done. There are a small number of issues left that we continue to work on, but all the heavy lifting is done. We still would love to hear feedback over at this thread and also check out the new XDA app! Thanks and we hope you enjoy the new forums, and thanks for your support of XDA <3

CodefireX 4.4.3.2.1.000.000 Open Master

This well established Android distribution treats development differently than any other to further our Android platform as a whole. This is the fastest source built ROM you will find on this forum, and also the only one to utilize our unique build system and a custom LLVM 3.5 suite based toolchain globally.

Here is our very well supported Issue Tracker.

We utilize a plethora of unique optimizations in a build system unlike any other:

  • Utilizing the LLVM CLANG CI globally, working heavily with upstreams with a goal of furthering our entire Android platform.
  • Consistently updated upstream toolchain module source with our custom backports, fixes, and optimizations applied in a patch at build time.
  • Fully built utilizing Link Time Optimization and Polly optimizations (another custom ROM first). Feel free to google these a bit.
  • Much of our source have code fixes, cleanups, and many minor optimizations to set us even further ahead of the community. These are too generous to even speak of here.
  • Optimizations are toggled on and off based on device for the best experience we can achieve for your device without sacrificing stability
  • Many Qcom optimizations and AOSP master (upstream) optimizations and fixes using device specifications to determine usage.
  • Fully built utilizing strict aliasing and isognu++11 mode.
  • Utilizing all O4 optimizations (Optimization Level 4) including LTO (with binutils plugins), and additionally LLVM Polly.
Of course we also have several neat UI features, including but not limited to:
  • T-Mobile Theme Engine.
  • DPI Wizard (no junk like build.prop tweaks).
  • Quick Settings panel customizations.
  • Live network stats in your statusbar.
  • Button backlight customizations.
  • Hardware button customizations.
  • Volume button customizations.
  • Many more being added during the nightly builds.

Our thanks go out to all the open source developers who made our work possible.
Below is an ever-incomplete list of some of the 'indirect' contributors to our ROMs:
  • The Android Open Source Project
  • LLVM CI
  • Linux Foundation
  • Code Aurora Forum
  • CyanogenMod Inc.
  • Chainfire
  • The entire 8960 CM team for making this device relevant still!!
  • Many more!

@jrior001 How would you rate your release in terms of performance gain and stability compared to CyanogenMod compiled with the classic tools? What about the kernel? Have you managed to compile it too with LLVM CLANG? I have asked that because to my knowledge the 3.4.10 kernel cannot be compiled directly with it. Anyway, I'm amazed that someone has invested his time and has succeeded to build Android with CLANG!

I can take no credit for all that, that all goes to @synergye, our lead dev. Dude is a mad scientist I swear!! I just test things and keep our 8960 family running. Most of his fixes are pending acceptance or already accepted into aosp master. That being said there are a few modules still being built with GCC, mainly for qcom devices but we are weeding them out one at a time.

Kernel is not CLANG yet but its next on my list to work on. We got nexus 5 booting it the other day so I should be able to port most of that work over.

Hooray! I'm assuming this is the same ROM that is referred to in the codefire 4.3 thread?
One thing. I always rename bootanimation.zip, to get the stock android boot image. On this ROM, after renaming bootanimation.zip, I get some codefire stock image.. Any idea how I can revert this?

God..I thought there was a hellstorm of news that I somehow missed and then I saw the AOSP manifest and it still says 4.4.2.

But at the same time...I notice the version_defaults.mk from their platform_build/core and it says 4.4.3.2.1.000.000. So what the hell is going on?

Same as i leaked over there. We changed the stock animation to our own, you can't get rid of us.

Wait..we're in 4.4.3? The first line of op lol

That's because we follow the the AOSP master branch, not the release branches. Its just a number...

You should be a RD. Torched and Clang CFX toolchain are both involved dev works. Daily driver time! :amazing:

By the way, how do I UV the Torched Kernel? Because I can't find the OC / Voltage version

How long does the first boot take? I let it sit for 15 minutes and it just sat at the boot animation. I flashed the newest nightly and pa gapps (possibly outdated) and sat at boot animation. I wiped again and flashed those and torched to see if that helped. Same result. I'll try again with the other gapps I have and see if that helps.

It didn't take me long at all.

Sent from my HTC One X (Evita) running AOKP Unofficial nightlies 1.8 and Torched 3.2 No OC/VC.
