Hi Guys
I have a few questions. What info must you provide to have your phone exchanged. I bought one from someone online, and don't have the original receipt. So I want to know if I ever have any problems what do I need to do. Also if they will cover the phone even though I'm not the original purchaser, can I tell them what address to ship it to?
I bought mine off of craigslist. Im OP. Got it replaced free of charge.

Mine had trouble with signal, it was stuck on emergency calls only, bootloader unlocked but no root or custom rom. Emailed HTC they sent back a repair form & UPS label. They picked it up from my home. Tracked the progress on their site, it said chargeable repair. Phoned them to ask why & they said not to worry as only a few weeks old. I bought it off ebay BTW, but there was no mention of receipt, original owner or anything else, they just said it was guaranteed for 2 years & the website has experiencing problems & always showing charges. Rang back towards end of week & they apologised for the delay & pushed it through as a priority.

Phone came back by UPS few days later with a new Mobo & locked bootloader.
No charges been paid.
Bravo HTC!

Is this how it normally happens or happens for the rest of you who have sent the phone in for repairs?

Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App

My N1 recently got screwed up where it always thought it was in headset mode. I had to jiggle a headphone jack in the port a few times before it would come out of it and allow me to make calls.

Called Google. Gave them my name and IMEI number. Told them I had reset it, factory defaulted it, etc. They asked what firmware; I said 2.2.

We called up HTC and I gave them the serial number off the box and he started emailed me a link and a fedex thing.

I am just doing a swap so I'm not without mine for a week.

Do you have an unlocked bootloader?

Yea it did. But it clearly had several hardware problems.

I did however get my replaced Nexus today. Looks new. Came in just a brown box with a giant clear sticker surrounding it. I know it's probably NOT new, but whatever. Weird thing though. Both the Google and HTC guy told me to remove everything from my original phone before shipping it back. We joked how people keep sending back their microSD cards and I told him that would suck because I have a 16gig disk. He laughed and said that would be a good one to send him.

Anyway, while moving my SD card, I found the new one had a 4gb in there like before. Both company's told me not to send back an SD card, so basically I got another 4gb microSD card to add to my collection.

awesome! So you just did a warranty exchange and they shipped you a new one and you incurred no charges, right?
