Hello to all!

First of all I am sorry if I repeat the question but I've just got my Sensation from US (T-mobile) and going to root, flash recovery etc.
But the ***Locked*** at the BOOTLOADER screen (see the picture) confused me. What does it mean? My phone is not sim locked, it does work with local carriers.
Just want to be sure not to brick the device after rooting etc.

LOCKED just means you cannot flash new roms as the partition is Locked, during the root process it will unlock it, or the instructions will say unlock with HTC method, instructions will tell you everything you need to know

  • locked bootloader is different than Sim unlock ,
  • when your Sim is unlocked " i.e use sim card from any carrier " it is done once and it is permanent , no matter you do you will be sim unlocked
  • locked bootloader comes with official Software " i.e S-ON " , But when you do S-OFF this bootloader is replaced by unlocked bootloader during S-OFF which is good
  • S-OFF is different than using htc dev to unlock bootloader , S-OFF is much much better
  • when i say unlocked bootloader i really mean unlocked hboot " this is the right way to say it " but i used the above term to explain to you in a simple way
  • you have hboot 1.18 which is supported by revolutionary which is very good
  • to S-OFF first try Revolutionary and it will work if your software version is not too new " i guess this is your case , if you have software version 1.45.x.x "
    • go to my thread Downgrade S-ON New firmware and GB OTA for Successful Revolutionary first time S-off ( Sensation ) here
    • Only follow this title and Nothing else " Revolutionary Method and Precautions ( Gingerbread ) " to avoid errors when using revolutionary and better watch the video " note the video is for htc Incredible 2 but the procedure is similar except when you choose Sensation and hboot 1.18
  • if your software is too new " revolutionary will say .. Zerg .... failed to get root " , you will use tacoroot to S-OFF here [Guide] Fix for Revolutionary S-OFF fails on OTA S-ON update , before you use tacoroot fully charge your battery and don't let it die while you are in bootloop , the whole process of S-OFF should take only very few minutes
  • i added you to my contact to PM me if you have difficulty , good luck

when i try to flash a new radio.img via fastboot, i get Remote: not allowed error.. i looked it up and found that my Hboot is locked.. so i searched some more to see if i could maybe unlock the hboot, to no avail, but found that i could downgrade my hboot version to an unlockable version? my problem is, i'm running Android Revolution 6.6 which supposedly requires a hboot of 1.23 and up, which is what i'm running.. so.. what should i do?

btw, yes i know i can use the PG58IMG.zip to update the radio if i wanted to, but i just think it kind of a hassle and would prefer full hboot access..

  • ARHD 6.6 requires firmware 3.32 which included unlocked hboot 1.27 that you need to solve the problrm " remote not allowed " ,
  • so why you are using hboot 1.23 that was included in old firmware 3.12 , the only thing for it to be used is that you have a bootloop that couldn't be solved by other ways except by flashing that hboot 1.23
  • so you should flash firmware 3.32 according to your cid if you didn't have the above case that i described
