HTC Sensation vs Samsung Galaxy S II

Yes. at stock the samsung galaxy is indeed the better choice. But honestly wait for HTC to work out the bugs on one of the most anticipated phones of 2011.. aside from that, once it's rooted and cyanogen gets it's hand on it and various other developers...it will only get better. I think ALOT of the Sensation's problems is mostly software based (aside from the so called death grip).. just my two cents.
The problem is this. When? Out of the box it is less optimised than rival devices, as you state, and HTC has been very quiet about when it will be opened up to developers to fix it. It is the main thing that it holding the device back notably in comparison to the SGSII as there are already numerous developers actively working on it with the full support of Samsung. Even something as simple as browsing is behind in terms of performance. At the moment the Sensation is a risk. HTC going public with what is happening will be the difference between me buying a Sensation or SGSII. The ball is in their court. As I am coming from a Palm Pre (yeah...) I am definitely not going to jump to another device with the promise of something good happening at some future point. I need something a lot more concrete than that! There is going to be a delay until the Sensation is opened up, another delay while developers work on it and another erratic period of bug fixing until we finally get stability. How long will it be until the Sensation is up and running as it should?

so samsung is recognizing that the sgs2 was a flop and it already has plans to replace a basically new phone , because thats what i get out of this post .....
His reference to a SGS2+ is from a rumor on an Asian website saying Samsung was going to bump the proc to 1.4mhz to coincide with the release of the iP5. It's just a rumor.

What he tried to say in an earlier post is that original SGS2 owners would be screwed because a four month old phone wouldn't be the latest and greatest any longer and that the Sensation was a better choice because it wouldn't be obsolete.

What I tried to say that he didn't get is that if Samsung ups the specs on the SGS2 so will HTC for the Sensation in order to keep it competitive making the original Sensation just as obsolete (according to his theory) as the original SGS2. The real point is that any phone from any manufacturer is subject to obsolescence just based on how fast new and better features are being introduced. What one does they'll all do in order to remain competitive.

I dropped my Desire HD 4 times on the footpath, no dents, just scratches or scuffs or whatever. fell twice face down, im not saying just throwing it gently, flung out of my lap as i got out of the driver seat, it was connected to the charger, charger pulled off phone whipped out, not a single scratch on the screen, and phone works PERFECTLY.
Is there any App to count the phonefalls :D
kidding... well, its True... i had DHD, and it is a tough phone....

I wouldn't buy a Samsung over a HTC phone... Come on guys... HTC was the very first phone that Introduced us all to Android... Why would you buy anything else... BTW HTC is a more superior brand when it comes to smart phones (MY opinion only):) ...
Why would I buy something else? Because I want to spent my money on best available phone? Don't think there is HTC and nothing else. Samsung's Vibrant and Galaxy S 4G are great phones. I know because I have both and I can compare them to Sensation. I own this one too. What about you?

Have both phones right now on tmobile.
Love screen on sgs2 but thats only thing i like.
It gets way too hot so i have to drop frequency using Setcpu. Even browing web makes phone hot.
Camera is better in sensation and sense is way better than touchwiz(using launcher pro).
Sgs2 is going on ebay as soon as i find out how to load korean font in sensation.

Instead of selling your SG2 on fleabay I suggest you return it as I suspect its faulty. I have had my GS2 for two months now and have had no issues overheating when browsing or general use like phonecalls and texting. It gets a bit warm when playing certain games but that's to be expected and no different than any other high spec phone with a dual core CPU.

As for the constant references to TouchWiz being crap, I certainly agree. But when are people going to learn TW is the least invasive manufacturer UI on any Android phone? Replace the launcher with something like Launcher Pro or ADW and the rest of the phone is not far off stock Android, which is more than can be said for certain other phone makers. So I really do not see the issue.

My sg2 only overheats if I'm surfing whilst charging on mains. Otherwise, it's cucumber cool...just an observation

1.) If you've played with both than it should be a no brainer decision...

2.) Superior day light? That's it? You're missing the big picture. Samsung has a great built quality and just because it's light in weight people perceive it as being cheap. Don't forget, there is a reason for the way it is constructed to shave on the weight. Reason reason reasons.... The back cover for example can flex to the point where each end can touch each other....cheap? Far from it.....iPhone? Give me a freakin' break....Apple totally ripped the LG Prada in the candy bar smart phone design so end of story there. Apple are the copy cats...once again, a prime example of brain washed know-nothing people like you who think everyone copied apple? Give me a break....it's the other way around. FACT. NOT Opinion.

3.) Sensation is a great device with bloated software, BUT! BUT BUT>..it is no where near the class of the Samsung Galaxy S II......SGSII is a far superior device. A 3.5l Ford piece of American made piece of crap is not the same as a 3.5l german made Meercedes.....FACT....the processors don't compare. Period. Samsung is superior.

4.) More goodness for the money? Uh hellooo..yes when it's quality good for the money than it's acceptable. In this case it is...Samsung always tend to offer more for the money....and that's a bad thing?

5.) Push the button on the Sensation and find it to lag and be a slow piece of $#!t.... I own a Sensation and it's just temporary....It's a slow device thanks to the piece of crap snapdragon processors....worthless....even the LG G2X spanks the sensation in terms of speed and quality.

End of story.

guys, help me make a decision.

I have played with both.

I acknowledge the superior nature of the Samsung screen in daylight, but I dislike it in the same way as I disliked the Samsung Galaxy S. The cheap build and the unecessary desire to mimic some iphone functionality and looks (digg that one button!)

The Sensation is just beautiful to hold and I like the extra pixels for browsing

The SGSII has some extra storage built in, some extra ram and slightly better battery management - but so what !!!!

just about to push the button onthe sensation
Am I missing anything ?

Well, at least we know your opinion :D Not every shares it but ... we got it. Thanks :D

I already got head to head both phones. Got my own opinion (pro/cons). I didn't regret my choice with Sensation so far ...

For what it's worth, if you want a phone that has all the icing on the cake with basics that don't work, get an sgs2, can't comment on the sensation yet as it turns up tomorrow :) I just hope it's not as big a disappointment as the sgs2 is. Everyone worth their salt knows about all the shortcomings of the sgs2 but the one for me that is unacceptable is the intermittent nature of the 3g data connection. Can't even be relied on to stay connected to the internet, and thats if yo get a signal on it and before anyone starts, it occurred on 2 seperate handsets, (first one returned due to dead pixel). If the sensation is as bad in any way i'll be ramming it through HTC's window tied to a brick cos i'm fed up with all these latest phones being unreliable pieces of junk.
