I recently got myself a new DHD wich comes with stock firmware 1.32. I was wondering why did no get the 1.72 update so I send a mail to HTC support. I got this email today explaining that 1.72 was revoked a couple of weeks ago for reason unknown to them. So the latest official firmware for the DHD is now 1.32 again  Just wondering why they pulled the 1.72 offline. below the orginal mail in dutch from HTC support.

Roswitha

It was pulled weeks ago due to SMS notification bugs and issues with random reboots.

Stick to 1.32 and make sure you leave USB debugging on to prevent the INIT process going crazy. Whilst you're at 1.32, get Visionary on it and Permroot it, apply S-OFF and then never run an OTA update unless you've read it's safe to do so, 1.72 broke root.

Yeah I know, well actually I'm running 1.72 rooted and s-off atm have not experienced problems with SMS or Reboots yet.

If so, I prolly downgrade to 1.32 again. thx for the info

Well you can manual flash your phone with RUU to 1.72 if you wan't, but then you loose the option to root it and to install custom firmwares. see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=879525 If you only want to use HTC official released firmware this will be no problem for you.

If you want both (so rooted and 1.72) then follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=885996

From translating what you copied off the email into English it states that Gingerbread was announced but the customer support representative did not know when or if Gingerbread will be released for the DHD.

I reckon that that they are going to skip the 2.3 release for the DHD and go straight to the 2.4 version for the DHD.

I doubt that, since they told that some devices will get 2.3 but they didn`t said what devices, and 2.4 will still be gingerbread but will be actually a bridge between 1core devices and 2 core devices (not confrmed by google)

2.3 will come to DHD, when...we don`t know. I really hope that we will have some news at the mobile conferences this month.

This is correct, they say it's coming, but they don't know if it will be for DHD. Guess they are instructed to stay on the safe side when answering questions. :)
