Huawei Ascend G6 - L11 How to Update to Kit Kat when the normal update does not work and gives error. (as happened to me from Rom B127 to B370 )

if there is no ROM with your defenitions you can fix in the end of flash, choose B370_V3 and change vodafone to the first name you find in custom.bin, enter the folder and change the second folder name with the second name you find in custom.bin, exemple my was vodafone/pt, so my first folder is vodafone and the inside, the second folder, is pt. Always small fonts and do a factory reset.

look for ro.config.hide_bt_tethering , now change from true to false.

There are many versions of the /cust , so it is possible that in the end, is missing Huawei applications like backup, and themes do not work, but can be repaired .
The ROM already have root, install the root browser , go to /data/custom.bin folder and open as text, in my custom.bin says vodafone/pt so my folder inside the /cust says vodafone, and the inside vodafone says pt. Change as it says on your custom.bin . Do a factory reset, Done.

Good News for B127 users!

>B370_V2 is a ROM for Vodafone Pt (if you custom.bin says vodafone/pt)

>VDF_RO_B370_V2 is a ROM for Vodafone Ro (if you custom.bin says vodafone/ro)

In the end are missing apps, like clock, or themes dont work? Is because in /data/custom.bin says different than /cust from the ROMs from above, but dont have importance . You can fix it.
To fix /cust, in the end and with root, change the names in /cust folder, for the names in YOUR /data/custom.bin (open like a text file), use root browser to do it.
exemple in my /cust , first folder says vodafone" and inside "pt" because my custom.bin says "vodafone/pt". If yours says ee/es you must change "vodafone" to "ee" and "pt" to "es".
In the end YOU MUST DO a factory reset and all be fixed.


In my ADB TOOLS folder you have all ready system, twrp and default recovery img.
... For those who have already upgraded from the old tute ... you have to put the B127 again, only flash , nothing more, dont need to fix /cust.
(A) - Copy B127 dload folder to ext sd. With phone off press vol up + vol down + power, release power when turn on, release all when start.

ROM B127 (in case of emergency will need it) (A)

Now:
Copy to external card the following:
>B370_v2.zip or VDF_RO_B370_V2
>UPDATE-Kinguser-3.4.0.zip (if you whant to root)

Open adb terminal ( attention , if you use a different version of windows than 7, you will have to copy c: \ windows \ system32 \ cmd.exe to adb terminal folder replacing what is there ), open by clicking cmd.exe.

Turn off the phone , press vol - and power to boot in fastboot:
Write this:
>fastboot flash recovery twrp.img


press vol + and power , install (B370_V2.zip) or (VDF_RO_B370_V2.zip), (DO NOT TURN OFF THE PHONE, YOU WILL BRICK, IF HAPPEN FLASH B127 AGAIN)


, press vol - and power AND DONT RELEASE!!!!!!!! RELEASE ONLY WHEN SEE FASTBOOT MODE!

write this:
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot reboot
Turn ON ignore everything and make factory restore.
Congratulations! You are on B370, completed. laugh: )


To root:
Open adb terminal by clicking cmd.exe.
Turn off the phone , press vol - and power to boot in fastboot:
Write this:
>fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
press vol + and power
>install UPDATE-Kinguser-3.4.0.zip
Advise you to return to put the default recovery
Open adb terminal by clicking cmd.exe.
Turn off the phone , press vol - and power to boot in fastboot:
Write this:
>fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
>fastboot reboot


With root is possibel to remove system app like Facebook or games, use this app:

I can not make a promise to recover your default ROM because I never did before for this model above, but if you want to try to need you to do this first:
root:
install root browser
go to /dev/block and copy to sd card all files from mmcblk0p1 to mmcblk0p25 ( i dont remeber if 25 let copy...)
do it 1 by 1, than in pc do a zip, i you need may be i can do a recovery for your default ROM from this files.

I looked inside the zip file. It extracts the img files and writes them to the block devices which is a great idea. Bravo!
But why didn't you do the same thing for system.img? Why flashing it through fastboot?

Hi! In my first try I had system in zip, but phone bricks, I don't know way.
But I have a new versions, they are completed, one clean (no games, and no google apps like music, etc, etc) the other is normal, and came all ready rooted and with busibox. Build.prop came tweaked to.

I saw you uploaded some *FULL* versions as well and put system.img inside them.
Putting system.img inside the zip works? I thought maybe because of the huge size of system.img and the fact that G6-L11 has only 1GB of RAM, it might fail.
P.S.:
Why do you mount system and cust and then unmount them afterwards?

Mount and unmount to force and link data, and all works I flash more than one time this version.
Dont stay in Ram because write directly in the images.
Boot loop when reboot but when go to recovery it is fixed.

Only one question, is there any way to solve the 4G issue. It is always there even if we turn of mobile data.
Btw, after we install the B370 can we downgrade to B118 or it will get stuck with B127 again? And of we can does it have to be with twrp or normal SD update?

Hi! That is not a issu, if says 4G is because is plugged to 4G, don't mean is sending or receiving data, To switch network, go to short cut bar and press network data icon and dont release, in that menu you can change your net work, 2, 3,4G. From default update.app, no but I have a zip file to do, why roll back? The oesmbl from updates same times dont match and do issus. The zip do a bypass on oesmble check.

Wow that was a fast reply, thanks I thought it was a problem from the ROM. The only reason I wanted to downgrade was because I thought it was a "ROM bridge problem". Since huawei recommends that we upgrade from 118 to 370. Thanks a lot though.

The first is for Vodafone hu ( with /data/custom.bin vodafone/hu )

The sec is the default that came with rom ( with /data/custom.bin hw/normal )

Works in others ROMs and phone versions( P7mini).

It does not work in L22 and L33 , although it is the same phone, but the provider configuration is totally different, frequencies , network codes, etc.
If someone able to change or create , it may be possible to upgrade .

I have a question:
Is EMUI 3.0 for g6 different from EMUI 3.0 on other devices?
As I saw that lockscreen on honor p6 have a settings icon thus can be customize whilst our doesn't. at least I haven't find a way to customize lockscreen. also there is magazine unlock feature missing from it.
