Huawei Honor 4x first time root without losing stock ROM and current config / apps

Hi.
I have requested my unlock code for the bootloader from Huawei.
When I unlock my boot loader using ADB will this cause the phone to reset to factory default or will it retain my existing configuration?
I am quite happy with the phone as it is but I would like to be able to install some of my root apps such as Titanium Backup, Juice Defender etc
Is this possible to do without breaking the existing ROM and my current configuration?
I dont want to load a custom ROM and lose my current factory stable setup.

Unlocking the bootloader will not reset your phone it will just make it possible to install custom recovery.
If you unlock the bootloader that doesnt give you SU/Root access it just makes rooting possible.

Highly recommend backing up your data , you never know!
