Huawei Mate 20 pro Canadian discussion thread

Just got mine from Fido outright (100 cad cheaper than the other carriers, I'm a bell customer), disappointed that there is no dual-sim card function and curious that if you guys have the "hivision" function (Huawei’s Google Lens) available in the phone?
It seems that this version lacks a bunch of function available in other country's variants, and I am not sure if it only happens to my version from fido or all that in Canada~ LOL

I will have to check tomorrow. Mine has not arrived yet. Pre-ordered with the telus employee price program discount (Government of Canada) , so it seems they are taking their time getting it to me. It is a pretty good price through the program though.

I want this phone sooo badly.... It seems like a hella good phone.. bit torn between getting this or the one-plus 6t -- i mean after all one-plus devices lifespans are incredible.

The only thing holding me back right now is the price... $1199 from Fido outright...that's like $200 than Note 9..

Do you guys know any sales or something big where I can save some money?

I planning to buy the phone from a third party retailer. eg bestbuy, wireless wave, etc since they can probably undercut the prices

Is your discount through Telus?

How is your screen? I checked a demo unit at Bell, and it looked good. I opened a incognito tab, and turned the brightness to minimum, and didn't see anything. It wasn't super bright in the store, and I cupped my hands around it. Hopefully our Canadian models are not or perhaps less affected.....

Pre-Ordered mine through Koodo and received it today. LYA-L0C is the model number and it is the twilight color. Mine has the LG panel but no green yet so I will be running it for a while on YouTube to see if it changes. I'd like to make sure no issues before the two week return window is up.

How does return policy work with Fido, do they as well offer 2 week return policy? I am thinking about purchasing the phone (full price).

Yes my discount is through Telus. My screen is really great. No complaints so far.

Got mine. Verified that it is an LG screen. Looks amazing so far though so hope that stays.. be really sad if I have to trade it in or if it got a green screen. hope with the Canadian exclusive model it's problemless. ?

How was the availability of the mate 20 pro in your parts of Canada? Here in Edmonton, it was almost impossible to find one. Fido, Telus, and Rogers only had some pre-ordered ones present and was the only company that had actual stock they were willing to sell.

Just picked mine up from Bell. Bought outright and they gave me the watch as well. They probably weren't supposed to. Like the previous person a page or two back, mine also came with a clear case in box. No screen protector though. I'm amazed at how slim the phone is. I'm working all day so I won't likely get to play with it or even power it on until tonight. Can't wait

I know Google tried to break it but I'm not convinced they succeeded. I think I got it to work on my note9 with the pie beta. Not a 100% sure tho??

One app that is much needed is the Huawei app gallery. Make sure you guys get that and change your location to something else. Can't use Canada or USA so I picked Hongkong. Anyway it updates the theme app and it's much better now. I think that is needed in order to apply full themes as well.

Back in the P20 days. I had rebranded it to the European variant which made all this a lot easier.
