Good news: Telus doesn't require me to send the original back first. They will send me a new one with a return mailer and I have an additional 30 days.
Bad news: they have none in stock but apparently hold back some for replacement. Could not say if any were available though
Unknown news: will the replacement be any better??

Not at this time. I have emailed them but expect the standard boilerplate response about if it's defective contact the service provider for repair or replacementWow, any statement from Huawei Canada about this? I tried to Google it, but couldn't find anything.
