Good news: Telus doesn't require me to send the original back first. They will send me a new one with a return mailer and I have an additional 30 days.

Bad news: they have none in stock but apparently hold back some for replacement. Could not say if any were available though

Unknown news: will the replacement be any better??

Wow, any statement from Huawei Canada about this? I tried to Google it, but couldn't find anything.
Not at this time. I have emailed them but expect the standard boilerplate response about if it's defective contact the service provider for repair or replacement

Probably unless you get a BOE screen. No telling until you get one. If they do, they better soon. It seems very very few boe have issues and 90+% LG have issues

Is it possible to buy the Canadian version LYA-LOC and use it in USA? I'm thinking about it for the wifi calling to see if it would work here.

Uh, since some people don't seem to be aware of it, you don't use a black screen to check for green tint. These are AMOLED screens, so black is a pixel that isn't even turned on. You have to show a dark gray background AND have the brightness cranked down. Also, the issue takes a minimum of three days to manifest.

I'm on Telus and just got mine with the watch today. It is a Canadian specific model so I really doubt we will see a custom root. I haven't checked but I'm sure I will have an LG screen, and I will be keeping a close eye on it because I will be damned if I put up with a crappy screen for a monster phone like this.

The only thing I can say for now is that given the 'diligence' of the fingerprint setup, the actual usage so far feels like a joke.

Does this phone have an option of single-tap wake-up?
I suppose to activate and use the fingerprint sensor, one needs to wake the display first, and for that I don't like to press a button. Is it possible to just single-tap on the screen and wake it up?

You can set it to wake up on being lifted up

Don't worry.. Eventually it will show up on any screen! Still waiting on Telus to mail a replacement.. They weren't even able to confirm there were any...

There is still a chance some of us may luck out, but don't worry I am buckled up for possibly a very rough ride. 'Luckily' it seems that the problem isn't subtle, the question is how will Telus handle it? If a 2nd phone exhibits the same symptoms, I will demand to speak with someone up the ladder, and flat out ask them if they are going to ensure a non LG screen or what. Yes, it may mean waiting months. It is either that, or return it for... I guess an S9+, it can't be unlocked either unless you want to spring big lettuce for a gray market SnapDragon.

I want THIS phone. Could this screen fiasco turn into an ugly circus? Yes, which is why I will keep my 1st gen OPO as my daily. Funny enough, it is almost 5 years old and with a good clean rom is still slick as hell. The *only* reason I am getting a new phone is that my poor Chinese OPO is having more and more issues handshaking through shoddy net service (which is otherwise full LTE, just spotty in coverage). Dear God I have raw flashed dozens of radio firmware on that poor thing...

I digress, still haven't even tested the overall service of this Beast.

I'm gonna switch topics in here from the past 10 pages of screen issues. I highly recommend using systemui tuner to clean up the status bar if you'd rather more room for notifications. For me I wanted to get rid of the alarm, Bluetooth and NFC icons because I don't need them persistently there. A reboot was required for them to take affect but now I'm happier with a cleaner look.

And on a side note I'm working on a theme but given I'm new to Huawei this will take me longer. Ive got the system partially inverted but still lots to do! Unfortunately there are zero these to my knowledge that fully work on emui 9 to tide me over so I gotta keep working and try to make something happen!

Because I booted the phone up just once without a sim card, it absolutely refused to install a firmware update once I did have the sim card in. It would download the 400+ Meg file and then fail with a 'checksum error'. Luckily there were just enough little hints here and there to give me the idea to do a full factory reset - this time with the sim card in the phone. The update downloaded and worked - I am on .127 now. Sigh.

How did you use for the system ui tuner? Is it native or a play store app.

So, i pre-ordered my Twilight Mate 20 pro on 25th october from Koodo and recieved it on 9th November and unfortunately my unit suffers from the green screen issue and its getting worse everyday. Koodo is sending a replacement device though. I checked which screen the unit has using the HW info app and its indeed LG

The best thing is i called Huawei Customer Service about the issue and the rep told me the green screen issue is because of how the phone is made and its an "intentional effect" that they added lol.

P.s. tried adding a picture through the xda app, but its says "bad request".

Any of you guys have issues with the screen recorder app that comes built in? Mine just seems to record a black screen not matter what! It records sound but nothing on the screen!
