Got the phone yesterday, wow it's quick! Battery looks incredible. I tried to get rid of the icons in the notification bar with no success, ill try again tonight. I have an LG screen so I will watch this closely.

Any suggestions on a compatible case? For those who need a screen protector in Canada. Highly recommend the Alinsea 3D tempered glass (UV light and separate glue method). It's full adhesive and fingerprint works with it.

Only drawback is that the default clear case that comes with the phone may cause the side of the screen protector to be lifted up. So yeah don't work well with the default clear case.
How do you know that this is a Canadian-specific hardware version of the Mate 20 Pro?I'm on Telus and just got mine with the watch today. It is a Canadian specific model so I really doubt we will see a custom root. I haven't checked but I'm sure I will have an LG screen, and I will be keeping a close eye on it because I will be damned if I put up with a crappy screen for a monster phone like this.
Hi how do u know it's a BOE Screen, which model did u buy and how much was it.Just got my mate from ebay USA and it has a Boe screen
Because it is a model LYA-L0C, which I believe is the 'North American' model... And of course the phone is essentially banned from carriers in the U.S.How do you know that this is a Canadian-specific hardware version of the Mate 20 Pro?
Good point... and considering that we are such a micro-market, I don't see Huawei having a lot of incentive to provide speedy updates to this phone.Because it is a model LYA-L0C, which I believe is the 'North American' model... And of course the phone is essentially banned from carriers in the U.S.
There is an app that checks the hardware and screen maker in the market, purchased from eBay for 900.Hi how do u know it's a BOE Screen, which model did u buy and how much was it.
I would appreciate name of the app plz and which model did u buyThere is an app that checks the hardware and screen maker in the market, purchased from eBay for 900.
There are only two variants of firmware from Huawei, and then Telus tinkers with it for our OTA. Since they have nearly zero bloatware and the voice over wifi is already 'done', I think we will see fairly prompt updates. It is very little work for Telus to keep up to date. In other cases such as Samsung it is Samsung who are horribly lazy when it comes to Android or exploit patches.Good point... and considering that we are such a micro-market, I don't see Huawei having a lot of incentive to provide speedy updates to this phone.![]()
'Device Info HD' is the app, look for LG or BO under the 'display' on the primary tab. Also grab 'OLED Tools' just to use the screen uniformity test at various brightness steps to monitor potential green tint spread.I would appreciate name of the app plz and which model did u buy

Apparently you can... You need to turn off voice over LTE in the settings.Do you think I can disable the "HD" Icon in the notification bar?
