Huawei Mate 20 Pro - The most beautiful, disappointing phone I have ever owned

I love the cameras personally. It's the only phone I have ever seen that can take a SLR-like photo. Yeah it can take a couple shots to get it right, but so can an SLR and I use burst shot on my SLR for this very reason. Wish the phone had this function too but pressing the shutter button a few times achieves the same result.

I agree that video capture is disappointing. While the video quality is great, the motion is really choppy. However I have heard this is better in later updates (which I unfortunately don't have yet). Coming from Oppo's hideous ColorOS, I actually don't mind the EMUI. Also haven't noticed any issues with memory management (which was really bad in ColorOS).

Personally my biggest gripe with the phone is how easy it is to scratch the screen. It is by far the easiest phone to scratch I have ever had. I had it one day before getting a scratch. I have seen bought several glass screen protectors but they have all cracked due to the curved screen causing issues. Waiting on a full glue one that hopefully resolves this.

Oh my God yes. I have absolutely babied mine and it's picked up several scratches. Softest screen (or coating maybe?) On a device I've owned a while.

It's frustrating.

I find the video a little choppy in 4k, but I use the wide angle 1080p and it's great. The cameras are the best on any phone, especially with portrait mode that I am starting to grow to love.
As for the screen, Samsung's scratch much easier. Not one scratch on my Mate and no oleophobic coating coming off and making it a greasy mess either.

I am not sure how you're "babying" yours, but I treat my phone like any other phone, and even accidentally had it with coins and another phone, not 1 mark or scratch. Way better then the coatings on Samsungs.

In one pocket with nothing else. Set it on something never directly on a hard surface. Literally never knowingly expose it to anything that could scratch it.

It’s picked up more scratches with identical use than my: OnePlus 6, OnePlus 6T, Pixel 3 XL, Pixel 2XL, Samsung GS8+, N8, GS9+, Note 9, Essential PH-1, Razer Phone 1 & 2, iPhone X, XS Max, and literally any other device i’ve ever owned.
