Hi folks. Yesterday I changed my wifes p20 lite to dual sim. The second IMEI is 000000000000 (more or less) used HWOTA modif by vovan1982 (
https://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php?searchid=448061439 ). As I checked his works he has solution for every (newer) Huawei model . Our developers should ask why we cannot change our P9 (I dont want delegate the task but I am not enough experienced , a single user only ).
If phones comes shipped with Oreo debranding has the risk of a totally brick (phone dead) on zero day.
It must not be, but it can maybe - we don't know exactly.
During last month a lot of Mate 10 phones were dead (no Fastboot, no eRecovery, no LED, no USB connection) after one of the next firmware updates. (Firmwares that includes Face Unlock)
Since some of them did rebrand /debrand - but others had the same issue without doing this (just made unofficial Firmware update..)
Some said, it's because of Debranding, other said its related to bad firmware or installing firmware unofficial.
Everything seems to be "dangerous" on Oreo.
In fact we don't know exactly the reason.
The developer of the Mate 10 HWOTA has also bricked his phone totally. (completely dead)
And he removed the function for rebranding from HWOTA and wrote in the changelog: "Remove rebrand function, it bricks phone with recent new ROMs."
At this state I wouldn't recommend to do this (and if it bricks Mate 10 phone it can also occur to others)
Don't worry about my post - you did it already.
I don't say, your phone will get bricked.
But IMEI with 000 (more or less) looks not good to me.
Only thing I know for sure is that oeminfo includes on Oreo the IMEI and SN and some other info of the phone.
I think as long phones was shipped with earlier Android versions (Nougat, MM) rebrand/debrand is no thing with original HWOTA and changing oeminfo (and optional custom.bin)
But on Oreo it's not possible that way and there's another technique (I don't know anything about right now and it isn't my focus)
I heard also Funky Huawei developed rebranding tools which can convert Single SIM to Dual SIM..
I for myself would buy the phone I need without the need for rebranding
