I actually have read most of everything I could, and I'm reading through that thread "froyo for real" and have skimmed through the first couple of pages before, but have not found any mention of how to use odin (not one click). I've been googling as much as humanly possible on "how to use odin to flash kernels", but to no avail. So sorry for being such a noob, but do understand that I've been reading as much as I could, and figured asking some questions inside this question thread would be okay.

This is actaully the Development forum, not Q&A, lol, we have all been noobs. Good luck, don't skim the posts you may miss something, read, read, read, learn from the mistakes others have made so that you either don't make them yourself or you know what to do if it happens to you. The OP of Froyo for real has instructions. When you download the zip, you then extract the files and Odin along with the files you need are there and you place them in the slots. I wouldn't flash yet if I were you, you need to know more about Odin. And not to overwhelm you but SDK is usefull too, that is where you will find ADB.

I wasn't to use titanium to back up my phone but its saying I need to go to applications and click "unknown sources" but that's not an option in my settings. Please help.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Yeah, be sure to stop by your local AT&T store and thank them for that.

You're currently unable to sideload apps on the stock rom.

Alright, noob here too, and I've looked high and low, and I cannot for the life of me find out how to flash kernels/roms using Odin. Anyone wanna help out?
I generally try to be one of the polite and helpful ones myself. It's part of the rules here. But like others, I have trouble believing your statement about "high and low." See the link for an example. Google can be your friend, and she understands simple requests pretty well.

http://www.lmgtfy.com/?q=how+to+use+odin+on+captivate+site:xda-developers.com&l=1

There is also a pretty clear statement near the top of this forum indicating that it is not for Q&A.

EDIT: Also, if it isn't linked already, this thread may be helpful: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=807059

I was you Saturday night! Click on my username & check out my recent posts. I got lucky & stumbled into a pretty good work flow. I gave the steps i used & uploaded a couple win scripts as well as a zip with adb in it.

Don't download the android development files from Google; you only need adb.exe & the 2 dll's. And once rooted, the 3 button mod is trivial.

You're welcome to pm me & we can take it offline.

Welcome - Im an fng too & this is one of the best forums I've seen in 15 years on the net.

I just wanted to say that this thread is immensely helpful. I love the resources here, they are much more helpful for a new guy than the dev section sticky.

..............................What in the world.....................are you babbling about? I didn't know WHO you were referring to + how you came up with adb/ sdk randomly in the middle of this thread (using Odin + Roms + new users), although i did mention adb for "reboot download/ recovery mode." On the bright side....the entire time i was reading your post....i did have a picture of the Geico Gecko quoting your exact words. Don't ask, but thats how it came to me. Haha
