I bought an unlocked LG G8 ThinQ that seems to lack wi-fi calling and texting

I just bought an unlocked LG G8 ThinQ. My old LG G7 ThinQ had wifi texting, and I have seen videos of this phone with the wifi calling feature but it seems to be lacking from this phone. Is that a fluke or something I have to live with now?

Wifi calling will be dependent on the provider.If it's unlocked and on a different carrier from where it came,wifi calling won't be provisioned for it.

My current provider allows for wi-fi calling. Shouldn't the phone allow for it now? If not out of the box, then is there some sort of hack I can do to enable this feature?

The phone will have the wifi calling option if it's on the original carrier it came from.

Ah ok, well, could I root it or something to force wi-fi calling to be enabled?

No,because wifi calling calls for registration from the carrier.If the device isn't on the original carrier it came from,it will never register.
