Some people (usually iPhone users) claim that the Note is humongous and far too big to carry around and yet they never say the same about the iPad (double standards). The same people claim the the primary function is a phone, but for most people the primary function is Web Browsing. Sooner or later, iPhone users are going to get fed-up Web Browsing on such a small screen. So Apple will need to follow everyone else and increase the screen size or lose customers.

I don't think they will not by much anyway, they went on so much about the retina display when it came out, they will always have to deliver on it now. Which means increasing resolution, memory and processor all at the same time, and either increasing the price or taking less profit. We know how much apple love there profit margin so doubt they will want to cut that, and would the consumer pay even more for the new iphone?

So true, Galaxy S2 used to look so big to me, now it looks to the GNote like the Iphone looks to the S2.

Seriously, whenever anybody pulls out an Iphone at work now i just point and laugh... "how quaint!" i say.... as you can imagine it never goes down well :D

You just get used to the size of the thing and I can't imagine going back to anything as piddily as an iphone

We share the same sentiment.

I too cannot go back to a smaller screen device.

Prior to this I had an iPhone 4 but before that I had an HTC desire.

But transitioning from the Desire to the iphone4 was relatively easy due to the difference only being 0.5 .

But from the Note's 5.3 to even a 4.5 will be difficult.

Lol I pity the iphone fanboys. Allegiance to a company that doesn't give them any freedom of choice. Galaxy Note is the best toy I've ever owned. I rarely touch my laptop or desktop unless I have to.

You know what's something I always thought would be amazing? What is Samsung has a secret weapon already in deployment (as far as screen technology goes)? What if that secret weapon is SAMOLED+?

Think about it... Regular SAMOLED (and HD SAMOLED in the GNexus and Note) uses PenTile, which has 8 sub-pixels per pixel (4 green, and 2 each blue and red)... However, SAMOLED+ is true RGB, and actually uses 12 sub-pixels per pixel. So on SAMOLED+, that's 4 red, 4 green, and 4 blue for each single pixel. Let that sink in for a moment... Most ordinary RGB displays only have 3 sub-pixels per pixel. 1 each of red, green, and blue...

Can you guess where I'm going with this yet?

Essentially, Samsung already has better-than-retina AMOLED displays already out in the wild, if they were to use 3 sub-pixels instead of 12. So, what if it's only a matter of releasing a firmware update to such equipped devices, so that they effectively quadruple their screen resolutions by addressing 3 sub-pixels per pixel instead of 12?

Wouldn't that be awesome? I could just see it now:

Apple announces their iPad3, and how it has quadruple the resolution of the outgoing generation. The Apple crowd goes "Woo, yay..." while everyone else goes "Damn... I wish my screen were that nice..."

Then Samsung comes out "Hey guys! You know how awesome your SAMOLED+ displays are? You want higher resolution? Well, guess what, you've already got it! Here's an update for ya! *boom!!* Quadruple your old resolution!! You're welcome! ;)"

Apple: "WTF!? Seriously? Foiled again!! Damn you Samsuuuuuuuung!!!!"

can't look back

Went from iPhone 3G to Dell Streak 5", waiting on the arrival of the Note... couldn't go back to a smaller phone. Didn't know what I was gonna do when Dell announced they weren't gonna update the Streak 5, so you can imagine how happy I was with the announcement of the Note... FINALLY a phone that will actually be supported by it's company!!!! No more DJ Steve dependence (He was a God send don't get me wrong), just finally not having to keep updating to fix bugs in someones independent OS launches.

The same in here. I bought HTC desire, it was my first 3,7" and it was like ooooh, thos is big, this is not like my old G1! Then, SGS2 come out and i bought it and it was like oooooh, this is much bigger, was hoping i will have no problems with the size because of my small hands. I got use to it. Everytime i buy a new phone, my friends are laughting on me, that i have that big bricks. And then, i bought Note. Soooo huge. After 2 weeks a get used to it. My friends stoped laughting on me after i made home cinema in club from my Note :)

1 weeks ago i held sgs2 in my hands... ou sh*t, it is tooo small :D

Cant go back to smaller phone.

1 year ago my son brought home the Samsung 4" Focus (windows phone) and I couldn't believe how sharp the Super-Amoled and 4" screen was compared to my iPhone 4. So I made the leap and soon got the 4'5" Samsung Infuse...extremely nice (except the GPS sucks) and it got me used to carrying around a much larger phone.
Now I'm all set for the Note in 2 weeks. I can't wait to see peoples reactions.
And I agree those 3.5" screens look like toys and should be handed down to <5 year olds.

That's exactly what I said when I bought the Gnex... When I play with my iPhone 4s I can clearly see how the screen is sooo tiny... Can't believe I've stick with such a small screen for so long. Can't wait to get my hand on the note when it comes out next week in Canada!

Here's my story:

Started with the OG Droid - 3.7", cool!! So much bigger than my BB Curve that I had been using.

Then swapped it for a Nexus 1 a couple of months later, partly cos it was slightly wider (in portrait mode) though still 3.7", which made a big difference to me - cooler still!!

Then got the G-Nexus on day 1 - 4.65" - woohooo!!!!! Absolutely loving it!!

By then, I figured that if I could have 5.3", then why not, so I swapped it for the Note!!

YEP, CAN NEVER GO BACK!! Held the Nexus 1 again the other day - like others said, how on earth did I use to live with that mini screen?!?!

I'm tempted to say that this is the biggest I can go, but how many times have I already said that???!
