Hey everyone, I love my Pixel 3 except when it comes to the main thing a phone does, make calls!

The call quality is terrible. I know it's an issue many of us face from day 1, I need to constantly hangup and call people back. Now that I work from home and have call meetings non-stop, it is very apparent how bad the calls are. It is not a carrier issue, I have 4 other people on my plan and they are fine (no PIXEL users). This also happens when I'm using VOIP programs like Slack, Jabber, etc.

So I need to change. I know Pixel 4 is not a "great" upgrade to the Pixel 3 and hate to spend money on this "upgrade" but I might have too. Has anyone switched from Pixel 3 to Pixel 4? What are your thoughts?

How is the call quality?

Should I be looking for a completely different line of phones?

My phone needs to be rooted, run Viper4Android, and make calls.

Sorry to hear about your problems.
On my pixel 3 I don't have issues with calls, and reception is ok. It is not the best though, I had slightly better reception with other devices where there was a very weak signal (p20 for example).
Maybe the warranty could help if you.

I had strange issues before, mostly with bluetooth. I ran a 'network reset' and all has been perfect since. You will lose your BT pairings and WiFi networks though. Worth a try.

A few ideas to try:
Are you using a case? Some cases block microphones, which screw up call quality.
Turn off wi-fi calling (this was a major quality issue from my office until I turned it off).
Try a factory re-set, and re-pair things one at a time, trying calls in between.
We have a Pixel 3, 3a, and 4 in our house, none with any call quality issues. All on a T-mobile family plan.
