I think whether your Nexus is flawless or not depends on whether you're noticing the faults. If the faults aren't noticeable to you then that's as good as them not being there but I believe they are still there.
I'm on my 5th Nexus and it has 9 hot pixels. They're tiny, so you wouldn't notice them if you weren't keen-eyed but they're there. Most people probably would not notice them. That's 3 out of 5 so far with pixel problems.
All units I've had so far have had a problem on the left side of the device. Either the back cover doesn't sit quite right in the middle left area, or the screen is lifting. I don't think it's possible to have neither of these issues because of the way the thing is built. Have a real good look down the left side, is the rim slightly warped inwards anywhere? Is the back cover sitting with a tiny gap between it and the rim anywhere? Does the back cover stick out by a hair's width from the rim anywhere? Is the screen lifting ever so slightly anywhere? I bet at least one of these is true. Again, you may not notice minor screen lift or the back cover sitting with a slight gap but the fault is still there. It's just designed badly and if you don't have a screen lift issue, I'm sure you will eventually.
Every unit I've owned has had backlight bleed. Some obvious, some less so.
I think LCD problems such as backlight bleed and hot or dead pixels are widespread. I think the screen lift/left side design problem involves every single unit.
These are just faults that are minor and to be honest, may not bother or even be visible to most users. But they do mean the level of QC is far far lower than most other manufacturers. People make the argument that the Nexus is cheap, so "what do you expect?", but this is beside the point.
I will never buy another Asus product, ever.
