I don't believe there is a flawless Nexus out there

No screen lift at all? Have you checked with line of sight from the right hand side?
Nope. Can see the edges clearly. A friend of mine has it though hardly noticeable but everything is working fine. No issues with the touch response or anything..
N in mine the NFC is acting weird. Doesn't detect most of the times..

Mine got terrible wifi data connection. Comparing to my other Android devices, this one is the most horrible in terms of wifi connection. Will look around for the service center here in Singapore.

Overall It's still great apart from that issue though.

If 1 screen has cracked already because of the defect then the same can happen to every unit, they're all built the same.
I would say that 1 screen cracked isn't a pattern, it is arguably not even evidence. Obviously it would be a big concern if many screens started cracking.

This 'sour grapes' thread is still going? And the OP is still trying to convince everyone else that they should be miserable too? 10 days and hundreds of posts later?

And I see that the OP has expanded the definition of 'faulty' to include problems that may or may not manifest some time in the future, which is identical to insisting that everybody is dying right this second because they will all die some time in the future. (At which point, if this thread is any indication, the OP will pop up and say "aha! I *knew* you were really dying. It was a design flaw after all!")

This is just sad. Please, people, don't feed the trolls.

Good lord, you don't get this, do you? ASUS must be enjoying customers like you. Nice. There are no sour grapes, the OP is not trolling. Users are experiencing manufacturing defects out of the box and neither ASUS nor GOOG care more or less about it.

If you are happy with the build you have received, just mark this thread as ignore and don't worry about it. Others who continue to struggle with the device will try and seek a better alternative or a solution to their issues.

Mine is good but has screen lift. Will be trying to fix it myself as I like the tablet so much I would prefer to keep it if I can rather than return it.

It is the flimsy plastic tab between screw no. 2 and 3, near the bezel:

I see it now thanks. Mine seems to be intact... for now. Intact and no screen lift. Thanks for the heads up, will be more careful when I open it up.

(Not a perfect device however... I have the low free space lag bug...)

My current Nexus has minor defects, but I'm not returning it yet because I know that within a fortnight it will have a major issue which will warrant replacement. That's how confident I am in the lack of design quality of this thing.
Guess what?!!!!! My Nexus is broken! The power button stopped working. Had an issue with it every day so far with it not responding. Holding it in for 30 seconds wakes it up usually, and I wasn't bothered about this because I thought it was just a software glitch since a lot of others seemed to be seeing the issue aswell, but as of now, it does not work AT ALL. Held it in for 2 minutes.... nothing. Reset the unit.... nothing. Restored it to factory conditions and unlocked..... nothing. Nada. Can't switch the thing on or off, can only wake it up by plugging it in.

Firstly, this could well be a totally isolated incident. But like I said, I had been having problems with the power button; the same problems a lot of other users have noticed and now it is totally broken. Coincidence? Maybe. But if you're seeing the power button fail to respond every so often, you might soon end up with a Nexus 7 paperweight like I have now.

What an absolute piece of garbage.

This is actually my second N7 I've bought the first one was originally for my sister it had a slight screen lift on bottom right but not to the point that it was irritating. The one I bought today for myself seems to be sturdy no issues so far.
