As @AdamOutler once said

"Why not just buy a developer edition?

GTFO! Not a single person got started developing by buying a developer phone. They started developing because they were unhappy with the features of their device and wanted something better. They wanted something more. This developer phone is a tax on developer innovation. We do not stand for that. We will break the security and we will enable XDA-Developers to do what they do best."

By the way, what happened I though Adam was ERD. Look here http://www.xda-developers.com/xda-t...stion-and-answer-session-qa-xda-developer-tv/

Plus AT&T doesn't have Dev edition of N3 and even if it did college student like me wont be able to afford something like that :(
Lots of use got started with "dev" or unlocked devices, your comment makes 0 sense.

I'm not sure what happened to his status, I think I recall him being one at one point.

I think people are forgetting about what this community is all about. why give up and settle for the dev version so fast?

Sent from my SM-N900V using xda app-developers app
Its not settling, its putting your money your mouth is and supporting the development community.

The community is about development on mobile devices. That involves apps, themes, graphics, firmware, as well as security exploits.

Hacking bootloaders is a minor part of a large community, with a wide array of types of developers.

Guys,

Please let's keep it civil and stay on topic. We should all be thankful that Adam is willing to see if we can tell verizon to suck it once more!

Lol Its not my comment. Its Adam's from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1769411
Either way I agree with his cause.
Yea and a lot has changed since that post...look at the sIII now, the 4.3 update locked the device back down. Hacking bootloaders has become pointless because the carrier patches the exploit after each update, making it a royal pain in the ass to maintain. Look at the Note 2, there is 3 different exploits for each update except the latest 4.3 which has yet to be unlocked. The Dev Edition devices represent how things use to be. Never did we have to worry about getting around a damn locked bootloader creating a multitude of extra steps in order to achieve root and a custom recovery.

Point is if somebody unlocks the N3 4.3 bootloader, more then likely it will be patched in 4.4. By the time when/if another exploit is found the N4 will be out. Its a losing battle...so the way I see it is:
1) buy a dev edition

2) switch carrier

And lastly show some ****ing respect for Jcase. That guy has brought alot to the world of android and anybody who has a clue would fully understand what he is trying to say in this thread. You folks that have been members for 6mo or less need to research more and post less.

All of the vzw devices he assisted with unlocking are currently locked since the 4.3 ota. The problem with not taking the ota is that some stuff is encrypted into the new bootloaders that allow stuff like wifi to work. So you need the latest bootloader in order to run the latest firmware. So from what I see Verizon had the last say and told him to suck it...its a losing battle. Sorry not trying to be a debbie downer but it is what it is.

Thread cleaned & locked.

Good job guys pissing off one of the few people around that actually develops roots and unlocks regularly for Android, not to mention a mod. With this behavior, no wonder there is no public exploit for it. Those that can actually develop it, want nothing to do with people who behave like this.

I will be closing all threads like this now on due to constant drama.
