Question I plan to buy a galaxy s22 ultra, advice before buying please

Actually yeah, it will solve a lot, the performance will actually be worth the price tag itself, which as a heavy user I actually do need, it'll solve a lot of battery drain thanks to not being an absolute power munching ****show chipset like the current exynos, oh and I'll actually be able to get decent and stable fps with graphics maxed without the phone turning into an oven. Now lets not forget other things like photography and other stuff like that :) s22 ultra was a flop either way, but exynos took the cherry on the top.
you are really exagerating things here, as if the S22 ultra was an utterly failed device, which clearly is not, by stating that "you are a power user" then why did you buy this device? as an "experienced power user" you should have anticipated what this device was capable of, in all your "experience" most surely you could have picked a really outstanding remarkable and cost efficient device somewhere for sure, as a "power user", tech savvy should/ must have done

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra
I decided to take a gamble, due to the AMD team-up, hoped Samsung wouldn't **** up, clearly they did. I took a risk on their ****ty Exynos hoping after all the years with AMD ontop partnering with them that the chipset won't be utter dog****, clearly it is. I wouldn't have this **** phone have I not stuck myself into their ****ty circle of aids, by that I mean I bought a watch and didn't realise I can't use half of it without a Samsung phone. Had that not been the case this phone would be in the bin, and I'd be back to better phones. After 10 years I decided to try Samsung again and it'll stay as one of my regretful purchases. Not to mention it was pre-order, so no, it's not like after all this time and all the negative feedback I went and bought the phone, like I said took a gamble and lost. Hope that explains to you why a heavy user that's so unsatisfied has this steaming pile of ****e, not to mention it cost €1350 😁

Poor you, it really seems that you have struggled this whole year with this phone. It is also very sad that you paid 1350€ for pre-order price, others paid less. Good luck going forward, it seems impossible to sell your phone and watch and move on. Samsung offers only 5 years security updates so the next phone is just around the corner!

For me the phone has worked flawlessly. Not a heavy user, got it 2 weeks ago so straight to A13. Also, I paid 700€ for s22 last May and now got this exchanged because they lost my phone in repair. Not bad at all!

I don't know if your whole reply is supposed to be sarcasm or not, but anyway selling will lose me a lot of the money that I paid for it to begin with, and the watch itself is great in terms of functionality, but like I said the catch for using the watch is annoying for a first time buyer. Either way don't get why you mentioned some security updates, like I care about them, phone is rooted and running a custom rom, the only way to be able to get some actual sustainable performance back, from all the thermal throttling systems and bloatware. Of course with all this knox is gone, but I don't care about samsung apps, and I'm not planning on selling it, just shelving it or passing it on to someone, could even trade it in during promos for a new phone (And yes it's actually possible to trade in with a tripped knox). I'm glad for all the people that the phones worked out for, but trust me there's a lot of people out there that are just as pissed about this phone as I am, we even naively believed updates from Samsung would fix everything, sadly just some things, rest is down to the crap architecture, further restricted by the systems put in place because of the flaws.

It is just a bit strange that a person of such experience, talent and knowledge of smartphones can make this kind of mistake and stuck with for a year. Samsung pre-order deals are so good that you can even make some money when you sell them later, at least in my country. But this is a regional matter, not always by choice.

Mentioned security updates because you really seem to be stuck with your phone without any other possibilities. And you would have no choice than use the phone to its very end and then move on (probably to another Samsung by then).

But hey, nice to know you're situation is better now with custom rom. It is good to hear that you have fixed the hardware problem with software, even though you claim this isn't possible because of the hardware. And it is remarkable that you can state for a fact that the performance is so bad across the board with all devices, while you're rocking a custom rom. This kind of knowledge and intuition must be passed to future generation.

Hi everyone, please I plan to buy a galaxy s22 ultra, but most videos or youtubers talk about heating or overheating, advice before buying, exynos or snapdragon or which version, thank you in advance
To the original question: wait for the launch if s23 series. If you get good pre-order perks, get the new one. If not, compare the prices and decide what you're willing to pay. If you're not a profetial heavyuser like previous writer, you'll be just fine with s22U also, exynos or sd, does not matter.

I don't think you read anything correctly, I didn't claim to fix hardware with software, what I said is that I regained lost performance due to throttle safety measures put in place because of the hardware flaws. Don't get it? "fixing" hardware flaws with software is what Samsung did which in turn meant less performance, I got rid of that software and regained it back. Simple right? Sure but you'd have to read.

I'm one week in to my SM-S908E and very happy with just about everything. The picture quality of the camera though? Wow, huge disappointment. 10x zoom looks digital. Post processing makes everything look like a watercolour. Low light mode not great. Very happy otherwise.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10+
Might not be relevant to you, but I by now *regrett* buying the Samsung S22 Ultra.

The reason being that (depending on where you buy your phone) the firmware for your region will disable a lot of features. E.g. for me it is impossible to somehow activate the eSIM support.

And I really tried all the tweaks that are out there.

But you only notice these things after you've purchased the phone, because nothing about this is written in the manuals.

So my advice: Stay away from Samung phones.

Samsung's last great flagship in my opinion remains the N10+ N975U1. After that model balance, form factor and functionality begin to suffer.
No expandable storage after the hump back N20U. No SD card means no data drive and reloads are a true pain. The 1tb S23U will be expensive and as always in short supply. A N10+ with 256gb internal and a 1tb V30 card is more advantageous and has a larger storage capacity.

30 gms extra weight for a huge battery that still gives about half the SOT of the N10+. The N10+ will give 12-13 hours SOT once optimized. It's cool running so you can use it in higher ambient temperatures without cooling.

The S23U is thicker, heavier and has a worse display to bezel ratio than the N10+ with the span on the wrong side, again. The N10+ has better color accuracy/calibration and better gamma as result of that. The N10+ is a long lived Note that can easily last 3+ years in heavy usage.

If I was buying a Samsung flagship today it still be a new N10+. Screw Samsung, they've been dropping the ball for 3 years straight.
If you want the S22U wait for the price bottom to fall out after the S23U's release.
If you want a S23U wait for at least 6 months for the samsung to hit the fan first then buy if you must. New N10+'s loaded with Android 10 are still available.

This is the S22U section, not the N10+ blah, blah, blah section.
Nobody perusing this thread wants a new 4 year old phone with the obsolete technology and firmware.

Hi, you could try the GCam ports, there is a threat here in XDA about this. I did it and now I have both camera apps, the Samsung original one and the GCam. No need to root to install it. I'm not a photo expert though, you will see opinions in favor of both apps, but luckily you don't have to choose, you can have both.

Get the S23 Ultra instead. I needed to upgrade at the time due to circumstances, but really the S23 sounds like everything I was hoping for from the S22 Ultra. The SOC is a huge reason. I've had really spotty service on and off for the life of the phone. I know they were doing tower work for a while but by now it's been unreliable for way too long and in too many areas of LA to be just that. This has not been one of my favorites of the Galaxy lineup. It's a decent phone but it just seemed like there has always been some b*llsh*t with it that seems to be addressed in this next iteration.

Wait for the S23u with 8gen2, the 8gen1 and exy2200 are both inefficient.

For all of you counting the S23U to be the perfect phone...did they not told us that the S22U was the best of the best?
Like the SD8Gen2 will solve all your problems...
I have both the S21U and S22U with the Exynos chip and both are running fine, no overheating, no lags or stutters.
From what I have read so far is that Android 13 with One UI 5.0 has improved a lot on both the S21 and S22. I had no complaints on Android 12 and have no complaints on the latest software.
Battery life...I can't complain but then I don't have any of the social media apps on my phone which seems to be using a lot of battery.
We have little to no bloatware on the EU versions and even then this is a one time solution, delete the bloatware.
At the end of the day its ONLY a phone. There are far more important things in life than this.
