IM DESPERATE!!!!! I'm trying to factory reset my phone through TWRP to restore one of my backups. Every time I try though I keep on getting the error message 'unable to mount /data' and then even more 'unable to mount /data/*random*' I tried to go to the 'mount' setting but it wouldn't let me Mount data! Is there any way I can fix this or just use adb commands to restore my backup? PLEASE I'M GOING TO HAVE A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN!!:eek::eek:

What have you done prior to this? GPE conversion? Changed partition sizes?

Someone had the exact same problem yesterday...The /data partition was corrupted or something along those lines....Let me try to find the thread, there were instructions there.

Please stop creating a new thread every time you think of another question.
You duplicate threads have been deleted so stick to this thread from now on.

OK, If everything else you have tried fails check this thread here:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/recovery-help-please-t2850470

You will need a file which the poster of the solution couldn't post because of his low post count, so maybe you can contact him directly.

But of course, this might not be the same problem with what you have, even though it seems pretty similar.

Did you attempt to do a factory reset in bootloader? Because this will corrupt the internal memory on modded devices (don't do it, if you didn't already).

Didn't change anything

Didn't do that Because I knew that it most likely wouldn't fix my problem

Is there any way though to skip going into recovery and just restore my backup through adb?

You either need to quote a post, or state what you are referring to, otherwise we don't know what you are talking about.

Yes, you can boot recovery by adb. But I don't think this will help. Your issue is not recovery, its /data is not mounting.

Try connecting to your computer and formatting the internal memory (in Device Manager on a Windows PC).

YESSSSSS!!! Thank you soooo much! I did what you suggested and now there is no problem mounting /data. Thanks again I'm so relieved that I don't have to be stuck on this ROM forever.
