I'm still lost on what features I would lose with aosp? Touchwiz? I use nova anyway. S-pen? I rarely if ever use it..and all your losing is the hover function anyway. I hav owned the s3 ,n2 and s4 and always used aosp. With variants like rootbox and carbon I really don't see what I'm missing out on? Other than Samsung and sprint bloatware..I mean miniN3 is proof of how much junk is shoe horned onto our phones by the carriers and Samsung. I don't change prls? Although I don't think aosp is perfect it is nice having that option. I do prefer the stock camera and video player.I amsseriously not being a ahole here I am just asking.
Sort of an irrelevant question at this point. Either you like Touchwiz features or you don't.

Not really.. I go back and forth between them both..I was asking freeza.
Promise, I am not being a jerk but if you are going back and forth between them, then you should already know the answer. It comes down to a matter of preference. You loose Samsung's TW features by going AOSP. Sounds like you dont mind loosing those features. Some of us like the bloatware, some don't.

I'm not knocking what you all are doing and I like this phone so far, I'm just saying that coming from a phone that had countless roms to one where It's not worth rooting yet is disappointing. And yes, I understand it's a new phone and it takes time. But I do appreciate what the devs do, it was not my intention to bust on anyone...

Right, well I'm also coming from the LTE and the reason that phone had so many ROMs is because the stock system was so buggy. Even the ROMs were buggy. AOSP took forever to make it to the device and was still buggy after a year of being on the device. The stock rooted ROM for this one is more solid than anything the LTE had

And no hate to the EVO devs, they were great. In my opinion, those issues went back to HTC, not them. Most of the issues were fixed by the devs and deck did a great job with AOSP

Yea, lots of credit to the EVO devs, Viperboy, vincenchop, thicklizard, and deck really are outstanding devs and CT and big daddy did great things for people, Viper would be awesome on this phone. Not a fan of the aosp roms, sense was cool, but like most, I use nova...

I'll donate 50$ to the first person to release a bootable AOSP/CM ROM

Would love to have it too.. Been seriously thinking about getting a Nexus 5.

I am very grateful to the DEVS here. Truthfully if I had a decent Linux machine I would do it myself
What would you call "decent"? AFAIK these days any pc/laptop is suitable for coding as long its not missing keys or something crazy like that lol.

Well, you're used to HTC phones and them having a ton of crap that needed to be fixed or modded in the first place. Welcome to Samsung.
IMHO its also a matter of taste/preference. For instance, I HATE the color choices / cartoonish look of TouchWiz but LOVE some of the "bloatware" like the multiwindow (@freeza thank you for making your rom automagically open attachments/links on the split window!!!). If only the stock rom could be make to look flat like Sense 5 / AOSP / etc. consistently throughout.

Just my .02 cents

@micmars,
You must have just finished flashing,
Perhaps you should contact that Indonesian Greek about that mic. Pick up a pack of smokes, you're gonna need 'em.:D

8 hour Indonesian Greek marathon. No meds, but doctor was of that exact persuasion. What a horrifyingly wonderful day and epitaph.

I never really got the appeal of AOSP roms. I mean I never stay stock. ever. first thing I do is gut the device and install launcher prime.

but I always use touchwiz roms for while I don't want the "junk" samsung adds I DO want all the FEATURES samsung adds especially the camera features.

+1.

This does give rise to the broader question of what TouchWiz is and is not. It's more than a launcher, it's an entire framework that enables all of the apps in system like SecPhone, SecMms.apk, SecEmail, &c.

AOSP takes the power of the phone's internals and rebuilds the OS from the ground up as if nothing came from the manufacturer.

That's why you'll see AOSP apps in stock roms, and they work great, but less often Samsung apps in AOSP builds.

As to liking it, I try to pick what I like and cheer those that get what they want.

Yeah especially for the note 3 without touch wiz right now your spen is essentially useless. As for 4k video I don't care because it's not like I could utilize it right now anyway and you can't use video stabilisation. I've also grown accustomed to swiping left or right on contacts to call or message. And if smart stay when it works...

Yeah, the work you guys do to put themes into apps is just insane. I've seen one app with just hundreds of png files. That must just suck a$$. Tons of respect for all the crap you guys do.

I'm with you, but I think it's way cool that folks get pretty amped about AOSP. They completely dig it. That's just awesome, so I can't blame someone for wanting a high powered phone that's blazing fast and gives a pure Google experience (or modded one like Slim, filthy unicorns...).

I would love a AOSP rom for my Note 3 if I could install all the features I'd still want and being missing out on through xposed framework or something. Perhaps in time we will and that will blow this rom out of the water
