I just wanted to let everyone know that this definitely works to downgrade 4.4.2. I used the 4.1.2 image from the first post. I tried for about an hour to short that resistor with a screwdriver. I couldn't get it to work. At one point I got a screen that said "SD CARD MODE" at the top, but below that it said to press up button to reboot and down button to flash, but the volume up and down buttons didn't do anything. Eventually I cut a small piece of wire and stripped both ends. After about 15 minutes of trying with that, I got it. I saw the same screen that a user posted earlier in the thread. From there I was able to unlock the bootloader, upgrade to TWRP 3, and then install the latest nightly cyanogenmod.

Did you hard brick your Verizon Note 2? Flashed the wrong boot loader, now you're bootlooping and ODIN can't save you??

We all know a ton of users who have had this happen to them, I read it all the time. After stumbling upon another post I figured I had a chance. The instructions are clear but I want to build upon them with my own experience.

So first off many, many thanks to KOBOL for posting his guide which is buried below a ton of other posts in this General Section. I wouldn’t have a working phone without his work!

A bit of background info: I flashed a T-Mobile Note 2, 4.3 ODIN Image for My Verizon Note 2 because I wasn't paying attention... All I saw: "4.3 stock/rooted/deodex with 4.1.2 bootloader" (which I have) and "no wifi fix needed & stock kernel running smooth" (I have wifi fix & custom kernel, both which cause constant reboots) SO... I flashed it and boot-looped. "Good job, dumb dumb" I thought to myself as I gazed upon my hard bricked phone. No ODIN restore could get me out of this one, and I tried for 2 hours...

Then I found Kobol's post on unbricking your phone. I read the instructions, I was very confused at first as to how I was going to get this accomplished, so I am writing up this re-tutorial with new instructions. Make sure you have precision screwdrivers, flat and philips head.

Continue to Post #2 to Unbrick your i605!!

i get the go to verizon, go directly to verizon, do not pass go and bring 200 bucks for a new chump phone message after installing the new twrp app from the freekin play store. my device is supported as per their list of supported devices and i was trying to install 2.84 like they advised before going to 3.0. i cant even get it to turn off without cracking the case and removing the battery. plz advise... i love that phone so much, ghetto ass cracked screen and all. its rooted and running alliance rom 26 or 30 at the time of this most unfortunate event. send donations in lieu of flowers PLZ HELP

Could you please clarify? I just attempted the three button method and was able to access download mode, but nothing will write from my SD card. Is there another step I need to do to get the .img to write once I am in download mode? I am attempting to downgrade from 4.3 to 4.1.2
People need to clarify "Download Mode" and "SD Card Mode" I keep seeing in this thread download mode and they were able to successfully rewrite the bootloader in this mode, which I don't think is possible. Also something about a USB jig needs to be clarified as well.

I have a 4.3+ i605 i'm considering downgrading back to 4.1.2 but i'm a bit skeptical if it really works or not because there is mixed conversation about it. Some say yes, some say no. Anyone have the proper consensus on this downgrade trick and even if it works or not? I don't mind shorting the resistor out because i've done it before but if I don't have to do it would be great. Be very concise when posting and Download mode and SD Card modes are different

Just a quick verification, you were on 4.4.2, and you got it into sd card mode and downgraded the bootloader to 4.1.2 correct? Phone was on ND7 correct?

Hi guys, I was always looking at this thread wondering if I could downgrade, but now I'm looking at it because I am unsure if I'm bricked or have sudden death syndrome on my note two. I can't get into recovery, Odin, or anything just the Samsung logo. The battery logo freezes too and eventually goes to the Samsung logo. I'm unsure how this happened as I was at work and it was like this when I returned. I was rooted and running xposed, SDM frozen, for 2 years straight and one day this happens. Any ideas? Think this could bring it back??

Guys i tried this and it said SDCARD DOWNLOAD COMPLETED. but my phone doesn't boot, it only boots if the sdcard is in and it only boots to sdcard mode giving me the same message. Any way to fix this?

Edit: I got it to work!!!!
All i had to do was when it booted up to sdcard mode press the key combination to go into download mode
(volume down+home+power) and flashed my stock 4.1.2 rom.

So downgrading from 4.4.2 ND7 to 4.1.2 Vramc3 is possible guys.

Got it to work.. But can't activate phone now..

Hey guys.. I got the resistor short thing to work.. Here is exactly what i did for the people who are having trouble..
Press but don't hold the power button when shorting the resistor pictured in this post. Just press do not hold the power button. Make sure the battery is plugged in while dong this. To short the resistor use a small common precision screwdriver and press lightly on the resistor ends. It should work if both ends are touched for sure. I made the mistake of pressing and holding the power button. Make sure you download the first image file with the pics attached in order to downgrade. And be sure to use the program to write the image on the micro sd card.. Push write and the program will do the rest. Make sure the Micro sd is more than 2gb.

Now for my issue. My phone is back to 4.1.2 and on mc3 but it won't activate. Should I proceed to flash the root66 and use no you verizon to unlock the boot loader? Verizon.com shows that it is activated but it is not actually on the phone. Any help would be appreciated.

As for the downgrade.. it works and it should work for you.. Happy hacking..

hello forum members

I am having all sorts of problems when I try to use the unbrickers that are posted here. When I use the MJ9 one, I get an invalid RPMB data message and the computer will not recognize the phone. If I use the mc3 one all I get is the white screen and no messages. Am I doing something wrong that is causing this? If anybody has any other boot repair files could they please PM me.

I will be waiting to hear back.

Thanks
Tom S.

I can't for the life of me get it to short.
I'm trying this for the downgrade. I'm not bricked.

I got a whole set up with a flat shoe lace keeping the battery in tact. The display is propped up. The button is tapped in place. The board propped so it doesn't disconnect. Sd is written to and inserted. Even using the Sim to help press the button. It's so easy to preform everything at this point.

I've been trying for hours and no matter what I use or how I place it I can't get a short. The best I got a couple times was getting stuck on the splash screen. Waited a while to see if that did anything and it didn't.

Any further tips or suggestions? What baffles me is how on earth do you touch those contacts and not get a short?????????
