i know. i'm hoping one of the dev's already owning the jetstream (i think there's one or two other than task650) will keep it up..
if not - maybe we could get enough money to buy one..they are cheaper than they used to be

I brought it up to Newtoroot from mikmik, he said for it to be done he'd need the device. He's done amazing work over the years, recently he recoded the ril from the one x to bring sense 4 ICS for the the reZound.

i think there's an opportunity here.
if we could get enough money, and one of the members here would like to sell his device, maybe we can buy a device for development.
meanwhile we must wait for the bounty to grow..

Yes. Agreed. Please guys pool in. Even if we don't get a member to sell the device, I think a new one would be like $550 or something with contract. Let's see. Hopefully Russ's contact also comes through. He will post details himself once any news available.

I would consider selling mine at a discount to a developer or trade for a thinkpad. Otherwise I would be willing to contribute to the bounty. IDK, it depends if anyone really thinks they can do it, but I've lost faith in HTC and hope in XDA.

I've got a little bit of experience with compiling Cyanogen. Work is crazy-busy for me lately, so I'm not sure when I'll have time to work on it, but I will do whatever I can to get this working.

I'm not much of a developer, so any help I can get will be appreciated. We'll need to look for other devices already running ICS that have similar hardware.

Like I said, work's crazy busy, so right now I don't have much time to hunt for this info.

However, I may be able to use the HP Touchpad (which I also have, running CM9) as a starting point. The Jetstream has a Qualcomm MSM8260 CPU, where the TP is using a MSM8060. They're similar, yet obviously not identical CPUs.

We'll also need to figure out the other hardware, like what display, touchscreen, wifi, etc. hardware the Jetstream is using.

With any luck, we'll get something. It sucks that Honeycomb is closed source. That'll make things a little bit harder. At least the kernel's open source still.

I'm going to post this over in the Dev section, for anyone who wants to help with data mining.

Oh, and I don't want the bounty. Just getting ICS on this device would be enough reward for me.

Thank you. :) Would you be able to do something about s-off too? BOGMOH has got a s-off device. He is willing to help in order to aid us others to get the same. If you have some know how, could you help out for that too?

Doubtful. Like I said, I'm not a super-dev or anything, and things like bypassing/decrypting security are beyond me. :(

There's a couple people over in the Development forum who are buzzing about this. Apparently there *may* be an HTC dev willing to help out, if I understood correctly.

Let's push this!

this needs to get more attention. Otherwise it's just going to die off, I think for a developer to be truly interested we need more then $300, because building ICS for this device won't be easy. I know task has tried before and he said that he could not get it to work but I'm not sure how much time he had to play around with it since his daughter is sick. Maybe we can reach out to some tech media like Engadet, Boy Genius Report, or Tom's Hardware or even contact XDA and see if they can make a post about this on the portal homepage and really it this idea put there. I'm pretty sure that the jetstream has a bigger community then this just they might not know about xda...:confused:

its a matter of time, mainly.
this forum was never alive for more than a few days in a row..
people doesnt come here to often. we need to try and wait, and keep the posts going.

also - if someone feels the sums are too high, any contribution will count! even 5-10 dollars from a few people could make a change.

What is the most insulting about the whole process is that HTC is discontinuing support (which is the only way to describe not updating software even a few months after release) and still insistent on keeping the device locked down for "user experience". I mean they could almost get XDA devs to do the support for free if they weren't so possessive about the device after the POS. Fingers crossed on that contact pulling through.
