I have downloaded new nightly,
So if I want to use 2 Boot I have to flash GB kernel? Then how it is the same build for Both Device?
Some misunderstanding here please correct me Thanks

??? little confused :confused: when istall rom what is installed 2ndboot or 2ndinit (depend of what, system mb525 or mb526)?
2nd boot = custom kernel if you have a green lense you need to flash GB kernel to use it like Eppy said in the last post

2ndinit = stock kernel so it's the same as before the 2ndboot builds it's just Eppy with his magic :p has found a way of including the kernel advantages & tweaks of 2ndboot into 2ndinit by using pre-built modules and kernel image. When you install it the default boot is 2ndinit btw.

Both are included in the rom it's your choice which one you pick look back a few post or on the last page to see the advantages between the two.

Correct me if am wrong Eppy.

noob question, what is a differences between the two kernels on Epsylon website? kernel-gb-234-451-134-signed.zip and kernel-gb-234.zip
i use this kernel and work fine!!!

thx, I'm thinking the same thing, but I was not sure. i see that 2ndboot is faster, which is more stable?

@kayant, @eppy

For green lens if i use gb kernel, is there a possibility of burning flash?

I dnt wanna lose flash:confused:

wishing all xda pals Happy Diwali :)
I think it should be fine since quarx fixed that in the kernel a long time ago but wait for Eppy's reply if you want to be safe ;)

The 2nd boot is safe for that (its almost the same version as Quarx, except than the TLS feature is disabled and PVR loaded by 2 modules), else for the 2nd-init, nothing was changed from my previous mb526 builds

I'm now uploading a mb525 build, so no kernel changes are required. This last one contains the patch to help on lost of data connectivity (a kind of reconnect).

But, there is no fixes yet to set the overclocking on 2nd-boot mode... That will be in a future build, maybe as a "2nd-boot kernel only package"

Note: 2nd-boot kernel is exactly the same on both devices, i had to "patch" libsensors to support both kernels (for the Proximity/Light sensor)

wifi seems fine, the first build had a mismatch between module and kernel versions

nogoodusername: Please read the Android.mk content of the kernel sources i use

kernel is not linked in the repo because it can affect the full build process, but once inside in kernel/moto/mb526, you can use "make kernel" and "make tiwlan_drv" in the root repo folder (after build/envsetup.sh && bib jordan)

@Epsylon
Can you please look into this: https://github.com/Quarx2k/jordan-kernel/commit/e7960f61b3bae4b11d63ef9b25bffc656d5f58e9
I think here is the new bug of data and phone connection.
Please watch my comment on that commit.
Thank you in advance

Excuse me for my ignorance.. but this is a ics build right? why don't port the latest quarx jb rom and start from that which is pretty stable and with more improvements? (having jb as base instead of ics)

@ epsy: i see you are at the Swiss border.. where are you from? :) maybe Italian as me? :)

Lot of work is still required on my other phone, the Galaxy R

JB is almost all Quarx's baby.
Eppy had last worked on ICS, and so he's refining his own work...

It'll take time for him to merge up to JB, the which he cannot spare, so ICS it is.

I say, don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

I know I'm being a bit obnoxious now, but Eppy, please, CWM6 (virtual) *puppy dog eyes*
Sil vous plait? :)

latest nightly feels much smoother when booting via 2nd init (stock kernel) than 2ndboot (especially while loading app grid of any launcher). when booting via 2ndboot it somehow looses on its snappiness. also, it feels more responsive than jb. anyone has the same impressions?
glad to have Epsylon back!
