Yes, just copy the apk over to system/app. If you do it with a filemanager on your Tab (like RootExplorer), it will FC until you reboot it. For this version I didn't need to delete the SystemUI.odex. And the apk also is not named SystemUI - so there was no need for me to backup the SystemUI.apk too.
I the v2 the relevant file is named SystemUI.apk and thus you have to backup the original first. I didn't delete the odex there too.

If it doesn't work upon reboot, you can push the original apk via adb to reset it or - in this version - delete the "ICS Status bar.apk". Best way though is, if you make a nandroid backup before (!!!) all this to be able to restore it if all is lost...

If that all makes no sense to you, it surely would be better for you to read everything about adb, recovery and nandroid (wiki, google, etc.) before proceeding - I don't mean that offending.

Edit: forgot to say - this version works with both 6800 and 6810. For Version2 you have to choose the right file!

I tried your ICS_Status_bar.apk and I cant get it to work, you mentioned just adding it at /system/app and rebooting, nothing. I also tried moving my original SystemUI.APK to another folder and renaming yours into SystemUI.apk and I get no task bar, only FCing.

Hmm. That's the way I did and it worked for me. Anyway, ssaass released a new version, that also fixes some Icons for me.

This version is for 6810 devices ONLY and has a black bar with grey icons! Kudos to ssaass! I uploaded the version here, because I didn't find this exactly version in the new thread (too much themes there now ) and I'm not sure if they all are meant for 6800 and 6810 at the same time. At least this version works for me. Backup your old SystemUI.apk and copy this one to system/app. Don't delete the System.odex.

Any luck using this on steves magnolia rom? Tried using it directly but the status bar will just disappear, theres another one above this thread, it works but the icon does not fit my taste,
