I'd like to tell you about a plastic screen protector I found for the Note 8.

Don't mistake this to end your hunt for a good screen protector. I just got this installed and it does the job. I have limited experience fitting screen protectors, so had to struggle a bit to get all the bubbles out. In the process my gentle push with my fingers already created some scratches on the protector. I can live with this for now until something decently good comes along. I bought the note 8 a week back and already see very fine detailed scratches, nothing too visible though. Anybody buying a device can use this as an immediate alternative. Hope this stays until something better comes along.

I think I've tried every possible type on Amazon. This is the best for me. Smooth like glass, doesn't hold on to prints, doesn't collect dust and doesn't lift at all . It's basically what I've been searching for about a month now or more.

For 9.99 it's perfect. Use and replace every 6 months or so if needed, though it feels resilient. Install is easy. I can't imagine having to replace the Whitestone every time it looks like crap after a while. Not to mention for the money it's way too fragile. Again just my opinion, I'm only trying to help those like me looking for scratch protection that looks and feels good
Did you try illumishield? That's the one I'm using and it's smooth. Unlike the orange peel Spigen one which my wife has .

A lot of bubbles at first, but a day later they disappeared. I am very happy with this screen protector. The Invisible Defender I had before was horribly tacky feeling. Things would actually stick to it - it reminded me of the back of those cling decals you put on glass. But this one feels great so far. Thanks, OP! :good:

POST UPDATED WITH NOTE VERSION IN COMMENTS

So I'm going to cut to the chase here and say I've tried so many screen protectors for this damn phone that I'm fed up. They all sucked or had problems. Whitestone was a bear to install, got it perfect, then the sides started bubbling. Done with that. I've just been on the constant hunt for a stupid screen protector. Today was the day I gave up. I tore the skin I had on from Amazon because the edges just would not stick. It was only about a mm but it drove me nuts. I had a ring of fuzz and dust around my phone and the rubbery smudgy prone texture was just too much. I am SO FED UP with this hunt that I'm ready to take scratches, whatever.

So today while getting some crap at walmart I went to the phone section. No Note 8 protectors (it is habit to look now), but they had this one for the S8+. Those screens are similar, why the hell not I've tried everything short of lining my phone with clear packing tape.

I brought it home, applied it, patiently worked out the bubbles. Don't fret, even if you get a lot they work out easy. Have some tape near by to do the tape pull back and blot any dust spots you see. Then go through the process of getting rid of bubble again. I did this so many times because I was just doing it in a rush, thinking it wouldn't work at all, and getting dust in the damn thing. But I just kept patient and did the process over and over. It took a while, if I did it in the bathroom after running the shower it wouldn't have. IMO it worked amazingly well. It's a PET film with some flex, but it's NOT a skin. It's not self healing. It will show scratches over time, probably even more so with the Spen, but take care like you do and it will hold up well. It's not brittle like most older static PET films. It's literally the only protector of it's kind I've been able to find locally and the dozens on Amazon. It's a cheap, replaceable and great looking screen protector made for the S8+ but fits the Note perfectly. Here are my results. I used a soft rubber squeege that comes with the IQ shield, don't use a credit card or something that will scratch it. For many of the bubbles I just used my thumb. Finger prints wipe off very easy with this film. Hope this help someone going through what I have been.

Oh first, it's this one. 9.99. I plan on going back and getting all of them. lol

This one:

No longer available.

So to rehash, Invisishield and armorsuit are the ones with the least orange peel and still available.?

A couple things since I last posted. While yes these do scratch they hold up better than your standard plastic protector.

The S8 plus version actually stays down better than the Note 8 version in that you don't have to get it on perfect to keep it down. If you misalign the note 8 version the sides won't stay, it has to be damn bear prefect These can be applied like a wet protector. Just wet the film with a little bit of dish soap and water and squeegee it out.

I've stocked up on these because they work so well here's a picture of my Note 8 with an S8 plus protector on it that's been on it for over a month and it still looks great. Whilel they do collect fingerprints what I like most about them is they have such a smooth feel. Still the best protector I've found for this phone when you consider price/performance IMO

Well I was going to post a pic but that's not allowed now? Lol. Ok

Well today I went to my local Walmart store and purchased one of each. Note 8 and S8 plus ONN screen protectors.

This is not a review but an observation, without a shadow of any doubt OP was correct when they mentioned clarity,. OMG it's like glass in terms of clarity and smoothness.

I attempted to installed the Note 8 specific one first. My heart was almost over the moon, I got the effin protector aligned perfectly meaning there was still about a 1 to 1.5mm gap around the chassis however the sob did not want to stick down on the lower right side of my note 8 screen.
If that had worked it would have been amazing. I even tried with hairdryer like I do with all wet film type screen protectors , but to no avail.

Lastly , the S8 plus. It seems to work and the clarity of just as good but meh, corners and lower part look like **** with the gaps.

I bought a plastic one first and it only sticks around the edges, giving me trouble to use the s pen smoothly. But, it was there for a while.
Then I bought a Zagg Invisible whatever HD, and it was the worst I have ever used. Overprices BS. Say no to Zagg.

I've been looking for a harder plastic screen protector for my Note 8 forever. Saw this thread, and I will be heading to Walmart to buy one of these after work. The soft "healing" protectors simply suck. I've tried those, and they suck in every way possible. Tempered glass protectors would be great, but there really are none that work well with the damned curved edges (I really don't like the curved edges, would prefer a flat display but oh well). I will post a follow up after I have installed and had this Onn protector on for a week or so.

Apparently the Tech21 is same material as the ONN WALMART model.

The Walmart Onn one was good, felt like glass but wasn't. Also don't leave s pen marks. However, as good as I was with applying screen protectors, I couldn't perfectly install the Note 8 Onn screen protector. The edges wouldn't adhere.

Good thread here... I'm still waiting delivery of my note 8 from my carrier, but yeah I went ahead and purchased a zizo bolt and ion, would probably arrive first before the note 8...

After reading this thread, I was wondering if there are still any reusable screen protectors out there? I remembered I got one for my palms m105 and m505, and a Treo. It's so easy to apply, just plop it in and squeeze out all the bubbles. Survives stylus strikes very well... For the younger people out there the stylus back then is either hard plastic, dried out ballpen, matchstick, bamboo stick etc etc. Maybe something like this would be a good try to put on a curved screen.

I said I would update about the ONN walmart screen protector so here goes. I have to say, this is a very good product so far. The fact that it is already curved to fit the edges helps a lot. I did not get a "perfect" installation, but very close. The edges have stayed down very well to this point (knock on wood), and the protector does not get as oily as badly as the stock glass (I do not know why). You can tell there is a protector on the glass, but it only took a couple hours for me to get used to it and in some ways prefer the feel and look of the display with this protector on. Yes, it is plastic, but so far has been resistant to scratching.

All in all, I have to say that for 10 bucks, this is by far the best screen protector I have ever had for a curved display phone (Note 7, S7E and now Note 8). If you have been searching for a viable option for a curved edge screen protector, this ONN Note 8 protector will do everything you need except protect from falls/impact that a tempered glass protector can protect from. I give this product a thumbs up.

Question, how did you apply the Onn protector? I ask since at the time I used some of the lube that came with other wet applied films , it all went on ok except the edges would not stay down.
