I'd like to tell you about a plastic screen protector I found for the Note 8.

Question, how did you apply the Onn protector? I ask since at the time I used some of the lube that came with other wet applied films , it all went on ok except the edges would not stay down.

It is not a wet application. It has the adhesive already applied, you just have to make sure there is no dust or particles that get under while applying. The process is simple - start to peel the back plastic off the adhesive side, line up the top properly on the phone, then work your way down slowly pulling the plastic off the back until the protector is on the display. Next, take off the front plastic piece that comes on the protector. The back piece is labeled with a 1, the front with a 2 so it is easy to determine which one to pull the tab on. After installation, take the included cloth and work out any bubbles. You could also use a credit card to help with bubbles, but be careful to not press in too hard with the credit card edge as it could possibly scratch the protector. Also - you can pull up the protector to reapply if needed, although that is not ideal. Overall the install was easy, however if I had to do it again I would know exactly what I was doing and would be able to apply with more confidence.

Since the protector is made with curves already on the edges, they have stayed down for me completely so far. That was the part I was worried about most - the edges not staying down, but so far they have stayed on 100% (knock on wood). The protector seems to be very well applied and I do not expect the edges to start to lift, but you never know I guess. For $10 I am pleased with this product.

Thanks, must have been the wet applicator from a wet applied protector that prevented my edges from not adhering.

Otherwise it looked like glass. I think and I could be wrong , the Tech21 bulletshield Note 8 one uses similar materials. I'll probably try another Onn soon.

I was pleasantly surprised by how well this screen protector is. This is by far the best one I've used in my Note8. Forget the tempered glass ones that don't make full contact or cost way too much. If course this plastic protector shows fine scratches unlike a glass one. However, full screen contact with zero loss in touch sensitivity is so worth it.

Can't remember if the Note8 version was linked in the thread but here it is just in case:

Mine was $7.49 at time of purchase a month or two ago.

Thanks again for sharing this.

I've got one that's a plastic film.
It doesn't offer the same protection, but I don't have to look constantly look at scratches & cracks, or replace it.

Hi

I got mine off Ali Express, but you can find them on Amazon too. Just read the description, any that say 'film' should be the same thing.

Link of the one I ordered below anyway.

Still got one on now and it's been on for about 4 months, before I would be replacing the tempered glass ones about every month. I bought a couple of three packs at a time.
Then I got the below film one instead, the best solution in my book. I don't have a cracked screen, but these film ones wouldn't offer much protection from a proper drop, then again tempered might not either.

After 4 months, it's starting to people at the edge, but with a cover on its not an issue.
